Make your Bedroom Bigger on the Inside With this TARDIS Fold-Down Bed

murphy bed

The Time Lords of Gallifrey know a thing or two about interior design. Blogger and DIY-er Stubbs from “The Stubby Thumb” wanted to to make her guest bedroom a little bigger on the inside, and since “Murphy beds” were a little too expensive, she decided to make one of her own.

Since Murphy beds are the ultimate space maximizers, it only made sense to build it using Time Lord technology: bigger on the inside! If you’re interested in making something like this, check out the complete blog entry/tutorial that Stubbs compiled over at her blog. Even of you don’t need a Murphy bed, you can use her guidance to turn a door, closet or table top into your very own TARDIS.

I Need This in My Living Room

tardis

Crazyfoalrus of Australia is a Whovian we should all aspire to be…he turned his living room into the TARDIS control room!

Crazyfoalrus did all the lighting and electrical himself, built the whole console and painted the floor. His living room was already hexagonal shaped room, he owned all the timber, and he worked at a factory with a lot of spare parts to be dumped which were used for the controls. It took him a year to finish.

Check out his Deviant Art gallery for more images from his redesigned living room.

ProcrastaStitch

ProcrastaStitch has recently hit the nerdy cross-stitch market. They have fun patterns and book marks and other geekery over on their Etsy shop.

They also have a fun tumblr where you can keep up to date with them and their many projects. I love needlework and I’m always happy when I see needlework+fandom.

After the cut we have a few words from Emma and Lyndsey themselves! Continue reading

TARDIS Closet

felony_melanie over at Reddit showed off the closet door and wall she recently painted to look like the TARDIS in outer space. felony_melanie is a professional artist, and this was for a little boy. He was in the hospital and when he came home this was in his room.

Her next mural is at a middle school to paint their rotunda like a South Carolina salt marsh.

Doctor Who Knits

The 50th anniversary of  Doctor Who is fast approaching and my answer is of course to craft all the Doctor Who things.  Now not even I can knit The Scarf in a week, but there are quite a few smaller items that one can get their hands on. Hyde & Co. designs has one of best small 5th doctor knits I’ve ever seen. This free pattern is a great small knit for the next week.

Fifth doctor not your style? How about the Tardis Mitts by SpillyJane knits?  The pattern includes fingerless mitts if a full mitten is not your speed.

Or how about Bowties are Cool fingerless gloves by yours truly if you want to go the quietly nerdy route?

Holiday Gift Idea: Dr. Who TARDIS Snuggie

TARDIS Snuggie

I can’t really say it any better than the original poster of this geekcraft – the perfect gift for “what to give the fan WHO has everything:” a Dr. Who TARDIS Snuggie.

How clever is this? Take a regular blue Snuggie, and, ahem, Doctor it up into a TARDIS. Love her tip for printing the “Public Telephone” verbiage onto a cotton panel then ironing it on.

Can you think of a Who fan on your list who might appreciate this gift? Or perhaps just maybe yourself?
