Grandpa Makes Death Star Fire Pit for His Grandkids for Christmas

fire pit

I may have bronchitis and laryngitis so I can’t verbally speak, but I’ve the internet to be able to talk to all of you! First up this morning, this awesome Death Star fire pit was made by a 84-year-old metalworker, on request, for his grandkids for Christmas. The pit was made by welding together two defective propane tank ends and then cutting out the excess metal to create the iconic space station.

It was originally posted over at Reddit by Bandia5309. And if you need any more proof as to how awesome this grandpa is, check THIS out: he is selling them on Etsy now! You can get your very own fully operational Death Star fire pit for only $1,600 from Farmington, NM. This custom designed back yard fire pit is hand drawn and cut from steel globes measuring either 30 or 37 1/2 inches in diameter (buyer’s choice).

Jennifer’s grandpa ROCKS!

Death Star Bath Bomb

deatbathbomb

Check out this geeky bath bomb, it’s no moon! That’s right, this bath bomb is in the shape of the Death Star by Veelightful on Etsy. You can even get one in Peppermint Mochaccino scented! I’ve heard rumours of people starting their holiday shopping already, keep this fun and nerdy shop in mind!

Star Wars Craft: Death Star Cushion

crochet Star Wars Death Star cushion by Pops de Milk

When I added this Death Star Cushion to my Geek Pinterest board and it got 50 repins, I knew I had a winner. Nothing like a little pre-testing before sharing something with you here on GeekCrafts!

Pops de Milk has done all the mental gymnastics for you and figured out how to make a perfectly spherical (and evil) Death Star in crochet form – no small feat! The result is a nice size pillow accent that would be perfect for a den or dorm room.

But if a 96-stitch/28″ circumference seems too much for your needs, she also made an adorable Cutest Little Death Star that is sure to capture your heart (and hook)!

Come to the Dark Side, O Christmas Tree

Death Star Tree Topper

With Christmas just days away, my brain is still in decorate mode. And believe me, if we didn’t already have a pretty star for the top of our tree, I would be madly scrambling to whip this Death Star Tree Topper together for our celebration.

Meg at Offbeat Home has graciously provided a tutorial for said tree topper, so you can add a bit of the Dark Side to your tree as well. Looks like a quick and easy project!

May the Force be with your Christmas!

Death Star Doggie

Welp, this is something you don’t see every day. I can’t imagine there’s really a genre of crafts dedicated to the prettification of apparati for injured pets, but blogger HoboHiatus got creative with his dog Musha’s cone. Et voilà—a cone fit for an evil emperor. Of course, I’m not sure this made the recuperation experience any more pleasant for the dog, but hey, it surely kept the owners entertained.

Come to the Dark (Chocolate) Side

Since yesterday’s post was a duplicate of an earlier one (oops!), I decided to atone for the mistake by posting something delightful (and not a repeat). Voilà the following awesomeness.

Damn, I would totally join the Dark Side if work parties involved cakes like this one! Talented baker Bernice Camlin (aka Smurfesque) has not just created a Death Star cake that both looks awesome and sounds like it tastes amazing, she has graciously posted a tutorial so even those of us who aren’t professional cake artistes can make our own. At some point in my life, this is going to happen. I will make it so! Wait, that’s the wrong sci-fi. See, I’m just that excited about this cake.
