Weeping Angel Statue (with Tutorial!)

I’m a massive Dr Who fan. I love the old stuff, but I’ve got to say, hands down, the weeping angels are the best villains from the newer series’.

Craftster user Fayeven has really blown my mind this week by taking an old unwanted Barbie doll and converting it into a super creepy weeping angel statuette.

I don’t know about you, I’d LOVE to have one of these in my house, but I’d also be kinda afraid too, luckily Fayeven has reassured us:

“… do not worry for me who fans, I am placing a mirror directly opposite her so she will be trapped.”

Good thinking Fayeven!

Anyone like me considering re-purposing their old Barbies is in luck, as Fayeven has shared a tutorial on how you can make your own Creepy Weeping Angel Doll over on her blog and on Craftster.

Doctor Who Scarf

Yes, that’s me, wearing my awesome Doctor Who scarf!

I’ve wanted to make a Doctor Who scarf since I first saw the series, about 3 years ago, however all the patterns I’d seen used yarn that cost more than I was willing to spend.  That all changed a few months ago when I happened across Witty Little Knitter, a site “dedicated to the knitting of the authentic Doctor Who scarf.”  Run by Tara Wheeler, she provides several patterns for knitting the scarf, including one made from an affordable acrylic yarn.

I was delighted to find this pattern, and even more delighted when a friend purchased the yarn for me as a gift.  A few months later, and I’m the proud wearer of a ridiculously long, cozy warm, and delightfully geeky scarf.

Exploding TARDIS Shoes

Man I wish I could draw. Then I could try to make these for myself! cakewalkqueen made a pair of Exploding TARDIS sneakers using sharpies! She based them on a pair she saw on Etsy that feature Van Gogh’s drawing of the TARDIS exploding from the Doctor Who episode “The Pandorica Opens”. One shoe says “The pandorica will open” on the outside and the other says “Silence will fall”.

Awesome Stenciled Lamp

Via Crafty Tardis

Anonymityblaize crafted this super-cool lamp, featuring some of our favourite ships from Star Trek, Star Wars and Dr Who (as well as other things) and yes I’m referring tot he TARDIS as a ship here, you got  a problem with that?! :-)

This is certainly the type of thing that’s bound to get the discussion-ball-rolling at house parties and family gatherings, as well as just being a genuinely AWESOME piece of functional decor.

Geek Onsies

Creator Rossie says:

“Iron-on transfer paper exists because I *heart* Daleks.  And so should my baby, darn it.  Though if it turns out to be a boy that bow could get awkward.”

I know exactly what she means! I’ve recently made my peace with iron-on transfer paper. I always thought it looked really bad and anything with the words ‘iron on’ always seemed like a cop out, but crafters like Rossie are rapidly changing my mind. I can see myself making a batch of onesies and bibs this way. I love embroidery, but it just takes so LONG!

Follow the link and you’ll also find a “World of Warcraft – level one human” onesie and “I may be a noob but I just pwned my nappy” onesie

Just so cute.

What do you think, inkjet transfer paper, yay or nay?
