Civil War Themed Lego Mural – What More Is There To Say?

AllenTHickmanLegoMural

A few weeks ago I got to meet one of the artists behind the incredible Lego work I kept seeing at area conventions. His name is Allen T. Hickman. For Planet Comicon, he created this amazing Captain America: Civil War mural. That Captain America Shield? He created that too.  And people, he doesn’t use a computer program to do it. Want to see more of his awesome stuff (not just murals, but fully realized Lego models too!), then check out Allen’s Facebook Page and take a look at some of his incredible creations.  Be sure to hop on over to The Just Brick League Facebook Page too and check out more of his Lego masterpieces.  You can also find video of the Lego awesomeness that Allen and Ty Forshee brought to Planet Comicon 2015 on YouTube, posted by Gabe Counts.

You’re Not Seeing Double!

TwoStanLees

What’s better than meeting Stan Lee? How about meeting two of of one of the greatest creators in comic book history? Photographer Chris Dorsey was there last weekend to capture the magic as cosplayer “Agent Stan” met his real life counterpart, Stan “The Man” Lee at Planet Comicon in Kansas City.  Surrounded by the IBOTs (Iron Brothers of Topeka, KS), Dorsey documented all the fun, including some incredible cosplay all weekend at the convention.  Check out more of his excellent photos on his Facebook Page!

Smashing Crochet Slippers

Crochet Hulk slippers by Mel Garcia Tello

Even though the weather in Kansas City can’t seem to decide if it’s winter or spring, I’m still in the mood to stay in, craft, and be cozy. These fantastic Hulk slippers might just be the perfect project to accomplish all that.

The Ravelry pattern page indicates the finished slippers are 19 cm (7.5″), so they would probably be more of a child size, but I would bet you could add some extra rounds in the middle to lengthen them.

Mel Garcia Tello’s Facebook Page offers a discount code through January 31st, so be sure to hop over there if you want to buy this pattern.

Groot Cake!

Groot cake

I almost can’t believe that this incredible sculpture of Groot is a cake!! Isn’t it amazing? It was made by the hugely talented Tattooed Bakers who have made dozens (if not hundreds) of other equally mind-blowing cakes.

Marvel-ous Kids Furniture Renovation

Marvel dresser by Melissa Nieves

I’ve mentioned before the fantastic geek fabrics that are becoming more readily available, both online or in local fabric stores. Every day I see new fun prints that make my fingers itch to get geek-crafty.

I recently spotted this fun dresser and lamp re-do by Melissa Nieves, and it has me salivating over the fabric, AND eyeing the furniture in my house for possible makeovers. I’m sure the superhero in her life was super-pleased with her results, too!

I actually got a couple yards of the bottom two prints and plan to make matching skirt-scarf sets out of them – just searching for the right pattern. What fun new geek fabrics have you spied recently, and what do you plan to make? Let us know in the comments below!

Hello friends!

Today I come bearing an awesome giveaway from Shirts.com! They have generously offered up one of their amazing shirts! Not just any shirt, oh no, I managed to pick the best shirt for you. Don’t believe me? Feel you could have picked better? False, it’s Deadpool riding an alpaca.

Even the description for this shirt is amazing: “Superman can fly. Batman has a Batmobile. And Deadpool? That guy doesn’t have such fancy modes of transportation so he has to improvise. With this Deadpool t-shirt you can show everyone that this guy isn’t too good to ride around on an alpaca if that’s what he needs to do.”

How do you get in on this? Easy! Follow Shirts.com on Facebook or Twitter, and then come on back and comment with your e-mail address for your entry. If you don’t leave an e-mail, I can’t send you your stuff, so be sure to include it! You have until noon ET on Thursday, May 14. Also, a huge thank you to Shirts.com for allowing this to be a world-wide giveaway! So go get liking!
