Beaded Mushroom Pin
I’m on a big pixel art kick lately, can you tell?
I found a beaded mushroom pin by NerdGold.
They actually have beads in place of the pixels for a totally awesome effect!

Here are my choices for the 12 best geek crafts of 2010:
January – Super Mario Vest by The Happy Seamstress
February – Minimalist Take on Star Wars by Justin Van Gendern
March – Tiny Harry Potter Paintings by JennaDickes
April – Periodic Table of the Elements Table by Abigailscrafts
May – Buffy the Vampire Slayer button by ButtonBettie
June – Tardis Schrapnel by Irishdaydreamer
July – Crocheted Spock Head by Amy
August (we didn’t have anything, so here’s one I like from May) – Origami Dinosaurs by essemde
September (we also didn’t have anything, so here’s another one from June) – Mario Mushroom Grill by Greg.Matta
October – Darth Vader Princess Costume by mayamagination
Or as Craftster Greg.Matta puts it – Grilltendo! He needed to be able to tell the difference between the carnivore grill and the vegan grill. Perfect solution!
Crafter extraordinaire Vickie Howell recently made this Game Boy stencil art piece for her son, who loves to play video games. She used a stencil from Ed Roth’s Stencil 101 Decor collection and freehanded the Mario image over it — she shares a complete tutorial for making your own version.
This isn’t Vickie’s first Mario-inspired craft project — check out her pattern and tutorial for knitting up a pair of Mario Mushroom Wrist Warmers as well!
Knitter extraordinaire Vickie Howell has designed not one but two awesomely geeky sets of wrist warmers, and both patterns are free online! This week she published the Alice Wrist Warmers pattern over at CRAFT:, inspired by the upcoming New Moon movie… these would be perfect to complete your Twilight-inspired Halloween costume in style!
And her Mario Mushroom Wrist Warmers are a favorite from last year that are just the thing to knit up as the temperature drops. This pattern is available in kids’, women’s or men’s sizes and includes a handy (and cute) charted image for creating your mushroom.
Ok, this isn’t exactly a craft… this is a 1Up Mushroom Lamp sold by the folks at Guruguru. Pretty cool looking and affordable too at only $8.50. They don’t say how big it is though, which is aggravating. I bet it would be easy to make if someone put their mind to it – any video game crafters up for it?
UPDATE: It’s gone from their site now.
