Big Daddy Nerdigurumi!

big daddy ami

A few days ago, I stumbled upon this mind-blowing Amigurumi Big Daddy from Bioshock. Isn’t he amazing?! Emjay made Big Daddy, and many other amazing amigurumis, with lots of patterns (including Big Daddy) available FREE on her website, Nerdigurumi. I might just have to attempt to make a Big Daddy for my boyfriend’s birthday, although it would probably take me about 10 years to finish, looking at how fiddly the pattern is.

My other favorite patterns on Nerdigurumi are:

Knit Your Own Superhero, or Stormtrooper, or Hobbit

nerdknitter_spidy
Nerd Knitting on Tumblr has a series of patterns for dolls, across a variety of fandoms. But what caught my eye was one of the most recent posts. With Great Knitting Comes Great Responsibility.

Spider-Man has always been one of my favorite superheroes. So I was even more pleased when I wandered over to the tumblr and found characters from Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Batman, The Hobbit, and even Captain Jack…Sparrow.  The pattern is worked flat then sown up and stuffed to make the doll.  The patterns build up from one another, so I’d say read a couple before you get started, but this is mentioned in each one. So get your needles and  ‘Let’s put a smile on that face’.

TMBG Finger Puppets

TMBG Finger Puppets

A little something special from me this week. I’m going to see They Might Be Giants in concert in a few weeks time and I’m pretty excited. Since They came out last, eleven years ago, I’ve had three kids, who are big fans just like their mother. Meaning the three kids dvds (Here Come the ABCsHere Come the 123s, and Here Comes Science) get a lot of air time in our household.

In the first two dvds, John and John appear to introduce the song segments in the guise of puppets. Large puppets. But it seemed to me, these would make great tiny puppets too. Tiny finger puppets. So I made some. And because I’m so generous, I wrote down the pattern, to share here, exclusively, so you can have your own tiny Johns too! Keep reading after the jump for the pattern!

You Can’t Take The Yarn From Us!!

Firefly_medium2

The evil shadow of Fox has fallen again upon the verse. First they took our show. Now they want our yarn.

In the spirit of things, I’ve decided to share one of my favorite ’Cunning Cap’ inspired crafts… the Cunning Cozy! This cunning little cozy is the perfect place to store (or hide) your lip balm no matter where in the verse you are.

“Not a fan of lip balm? The hat can also be used as a pencil topper or ornament.” ~ Kristin Stevenson

The creator  of the Jayne Hat Lip Balm Cozy is Kristin Stevenson of Tiny Purrs. You may recognize her as the creator of the Ewok scoodie shared on this site earlier in the year.

The One Ring Scarf

“One Ring to rule them all

One Ring to find them

One Ring to bring them all

And in the darkness, bind them.”

– J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings.

Look at this amazing Lord of the Rings The One Ring Scarf! This one was made by Iamrobot on Ravelry (there are loads more made from the same pattern, but this is my favourite one), and the pattern is by Diana Stafford and free to download from Ravelry!  I can’t knit, but after finding this, I wish I could! It is simply amazing! I wonder if I could use the same pattern chart in crochet?

Cursed Mr Drippy Amigurumi

Cursed Mr Drippy

After my post a few weeks ago featuring the Mr Drippy Amigurumi on Kitten’s Crafts, I decided I wanted to make myself one, and then make a cursed version of Mr Drippy (before he comes to life!) So, with permission, I adapted the pattern to make my very own cursed Mr Drippy amigurumi pattern!

Please DO NOT sell anything made from this pattern. I do not own the rights to the character Mr. Drippy and so it would be illegal to make profit from it. Also, part of this pattern is by Jastra Alethea on Kitten’s Crafts, and she has asked that nothing made from her pattern, which is freely available, is sold. Make them for yourself or as a gift, but please, do not sell them! Thank you!
