Make Your Own Tardis Charging Station

tardis_phone_charging_station_finished01 tardis_phone_charging_station_finished02

As Fall approaches, it’s a great time to get organized, and what better way to clean up the clutter than with your very own Tardis Phone Charging Station!  Check out this lovely  tutorial by Haley Pierson-Cox from the blog The Zen of Making (published in its entirely on Make.com)! She’s got step-by-step photos and even a downloadable PDF pattern to get you started.  I imagine it would be pretty simple to size this cute little Tardis up or down to custom fit your own phone or iPod. Plus, the use of plastic canvas helps ensure all your stitching is even and looks fantastic (so no worries if you believe you can’t hand sew!).

A Very QWERTY Birthday

My boyfriend’s birthday is this weekend, and I’m getting him a new smartphone(!) which has been quite the ordeal.  And apparently while I have been transfixed on trying to select and purchase the perfect gift on the sly, my shiftiness has become evident to my boyfriend, who smugly mentioned this afternoon that he “knew” I was throwing him a surprise party this weekend.  While this revelation was quite distant from reality, I acted like he’d caught me (to throw him off my smartphone scent)…but now I have to throw him a party, too.  So since everything in my life has been smartphone-centric for the past few days, I thought: Why not theme the party around….emojis?!

Fortunately, the decoration portion of my party planning was made incredibly simple when I came across these spot-on DIY Emoji Balloons from Studio DIY, which I’ll definitely be whipping up this weekend:

…and these hilarious Dancing Girls piñatas, also from Studio DIY:

Whew!  I’d better be receiving beaucoup smiley, heart, and kissy-filled texts next week for all this. :)

Game of Thrones craft: Iron Throne Phone Holder

DIY Game of Thrones Iron Throne phone holder

Is a new mobile phone on your holiday wish list? Then you might want to prepare a place to hold it. This mini Iron Throne phone holder is a clever use of materials – and no scheming, conniving or murdering required to claim it!

Susie posted a tutorial over at Cut Out + Keep that incorporates foam, coffee stirrers, cocktail swords, polymer clay, and acrylic paint. Her design even features a hole in the front to thread a charger into so you can use it as a docking station.

I love her idea to use the cocktail swords – they look great with the metallic paint job!

A Town Called Eureka

Monday marks the first episode of the final season of a little show called Eureka. As some may or may not know, I watch an TON of SyFy. Eureka is one of my favorite shows on the channel. The fact that it’s ending has my heart breaking.

In an effort to find something to quell the ache in my heart, I turned to Etsy. I was a little saddened to see such little content on this beautiful show. That was until I came across agirlfrommars‘s shop. In my hour of need, I saw this beautiful and simple homage to my beloved show and couldn’t help but squee.

The Global Dynamic phone charm is perfect for those of us who like simple ways to show their geekiness (which from my posts, is pretty obvious I’m one of those people).  The small charm with the logo of the company where everything can go right (but usually goes wrong), keeps those of us devastated by the cancellation of this show satisfied in pretending that we were there.
