Floral Wars Glittery Star Wars Ballet Flats

BenaeQuee of Brooklyn just posted these ballet flats on Craftster, and I lurv them!!

She took a pair of shoes she bought last year for another project and used her new Star Wars Floral Wars fabric on them. She also added fine holo glitter to give a little sparkle to this already fabulous fabric. The fabric is a cotton woven from Knitorious Fabric.

And such pretty fabric as it is! I love this project because of the sketched look to the fabric’s designs, it’s Star Wars-themed, and because while the shoes aren’t identical, they still match.

Mini R2D2 Pattern

Mia posted her mini R2-D2 pattern back in 2002, on her crochet site. This Mini R2-D2 measures about 17cm. The idea to make R2-D2 came to Mia from a birthday gift for a friend, who really likes Star Wars.

This time, Mia decided to innovate and used some LEDs on R2-D2, so, it works as a small lamp. But the pattern can be worked without the electronic parts. You can replace the LEDs for some buttons.

The difficult part of this pattern it isn’t the crochet, but the collage, because there are to many details to cut and glue! Mia recommends to pay attention on the photos and to search on the web for R2-D2 photos, so, you can have a good idea of what you will need to do.

Target Star Wars Keychains – $1 each

starwars-keychains

While browsing the $1-$3 section at my local Target (I love that section), I saw these awesome Star Wars keychains for a mere $1 each (they also had Vader and a stormtrooper). They are made of silicone, I think. I had just recently bought a vew small backpack (a sling bag) to take to work and needed some geeky accents on it and I thought these would be perfect (and CHEAP). R2 ended being too big so he now dangles from my rear view mirror in my car and the Star Wars logo is attached to my backback. I didn’t like the fact that the backs are just plain (no design) so I ended up going back and buying two more and supergluing them back to back so no matter which side they flip to, you can see what it is. I removed the chain on the Star Wars one for my backpack and left it on R2 so he can dangle.

Here’s the Star Wars logo on the packpack:

Looks pretty good for only $2! The Space Invader is made of Perler beads my daughter made for me and the stormtrooper key chain I got at Amazon for $4 before I found the Target ones.

Halloween is coming and to get you ready I found some fun pumpkin carving templates and ideas! StarWars.com has got some free templates featuring some of your favorite characters, like Yoda and R2-D2. There’s a Chewbacca one that I think looks a bit impossible, but my pumpkins tend to look like a second grader carved them, so . . .

There are so many fun pumpkin carving (and decorating) ideas out there. Do you have some favorites?
