OMG This Emoji Clutch is Adorbs!

Want to make this cute Emoji clutch? Find details at GeekCrafts.com!

In honor of World Emoji Day (yes, it’s a thing), I bring you this adorable (and functional) Emoji clutch. Laura Gummerman at A Beautiful Mess has a full tutorial.

While ABM offers a downloadable heart-eyes emoji template, I would think it would be easy enough to come up with your own customization to feature your favorite internet-speak icon. Which one would you choose? Let us know in the comments!

This Dad Takes Cosplay to A Whole New World!

DadCosplayCreations

I saw this on BuzzFeed and knew I had to share it.  This dad started out in fashion design, but discovered a whole new world in cosplay for his kids (and he and his wife too!).  He started by making a Fairy Godmother costume for his daughter to wear to Disney World, and it seems to have snowballed from there.  My favorite? The Belle peasant gown that transforms into her ballgown right in front of your eyes.  Seriously.

How incredibly cool is that? You may need to watch that a couple times, that transformation is so fast.

Want to see more, just check out @DesignerDaddy on Instagram for more of his creations.

Organize All of Time and Space

Doctor Who zipper coin purse by Erica Dietz

I recently stumbled across an article on using little zipper pouches to organize and keep your purse clutter free.  Well, naturally you would want to geekify that. How about this fantastic 11th Doctor Coin Purse?

Erica Dietz of 5 Little Monsters shared a writeup on The Geeky Mormon on how she adapted a bow zipper purse to subtly reference the 11th Doctor Who (Matt Smith, for non-Whovians), who thought bow ties were cool. Add some suspenders to a bow zipper pouch and you’re good!

Please note: unlike the TARDIS, the coin purse is not bigger on the inside, unfortunately. You’d need to hit up Hermione for a bag like that.

Make Your Own MLP Inspired Pegasus Wings!

PonyWings

I’ve been up to my eyeballs getting ready for Planet Comicon in KC, and something I’m introducing this year is MLP (My Little Pony) Inspired Pegasus Wings. This great video tutorial by Anonymous Woodsprite Cosplay Accessories got me started (though I used this awesome video tutorial as more of a jumping off point to my own version). The video tutorial is fantastic and takes you step-by-step through making your own pair of pegasus pony wings, starting with what materials to use and how to make your own pattern.  There’s even a bonus section at the end on making a matching pair of pony ears.  So, get your MLP cosplay on and make some awesome MLP Inspired Pegasus Wings of your own!

Make A Keyboard Kitty!

KeyboardKitty

Looking for a Mother’s Day gift idea you can make yourself? How about this sweet Keyboard Cat from Urban Threads? The tutorial takes you step-by-step through making your keyboard wrist rest. They use two separate hand embroidery patterns (available for purchase, $1 each) to embellish the cat’s face (the glasses) and the front of the wrist rest (ehem . . . what I would say is the kitty’s posterior) with the words “I’m adorkable”.  It’s a fun and simple project that is bound to be a hit with anyone, especially hard-working moms.  The hand embroidery and stitching on this one is pretty simple, and I’d say it’s safe for any beginner to tackle. Plus, you could use just about any combination of fabric color and thread color too.

Go forth and conquer, stitchers!
