Pac-Man Pillow

Pac-Man PillowTattooed, crafty mama Brooke (a.k.a. talking trash & wasting time on Flickr), sewed up this one-of-kind Pac-Love pillow for a Pac-Man loving friend.

Not only does it show the Pac-Couple in their pellet-munching glory, it has some sweet personal touches, like the player’s nickname in the left corner.

I think my favorite part of this, though, is the little trail of heart sequins leading Ms. Pac-Man to her Mister. Too sweet!

Plants vs. Zombies Plushie Patterns

Plants vs Zombies PeashooterChainsaws are so 2006. Today, we all know the best way to kill zombies is with vegetation.

Thanks to Plants vs. Zombies, gamers can rigorously train in simulated zombie combat. But what to do when the undead really do show up on your lawn?

Plush artist Alix Banegas has you covered.  At her Etsy shop, Arixystix Creations, you’ll find detailed patterns for making your own felt army of Sunflowers, Peashooters, and WallNuts.

Even better, she offers pre-assembled kits, including wool felt, clay pot, and detailed instructions in a spiffy zombie box.

Now you have no excuse not to be prepared when the zombies come a-knockin’!

Reader Submission: Fuzzy Rubik’s Cubes

Hanging-RubiksFuzzy dice are so passé, Care at Obsessively Stitching knows this, so she went for a more avant garde look for her rear view mirror: Fuzzy Rubik’s Cubes! They look great, and definitely have what it takes to push fuzzy dice out of the number one spot for “Most ubiquitous rear view mirror ornamentation”. Check out her blog to find the tutorial, so you can have fun making your own fuzzy Rubik’s Cube crafts!

Embroidered Dice Bag

Embroidered dice bagFor all my craftiness, I’m usually pretty bad about making handmade gifts in time for holidays and birthdays.

I was determined to do things differently when my husband’s birthday rolled around last month. He’s a big gamer, and I knew he needed a new dice bag to hold his gaming dice. So, I actually planned ahead (gasp!)  and put together a hand-embroidered dice bag from scratch.

I made the pouch out of fabric from a pair of torn jeans (hooray for up-cycling) and some nice corded trim. The symbol is the “Codex of Ultimate Wisdom” from the old Ultima computer games, which he loved as a kid.

He was absolutely thrilled to get it on his birthday. Perhaps this marks a new trend for me in punctual gift-giving. Only time will tell.

1 Up Mushroom Quilt

Craftster user shan-E-bear made this “Mario 1up mushroom quilt of doom!” and it looks so cool! She said: “I was flipping through all the wonderful quilty and non quilty creations and I stumbled upon a mario pixel quilt, the husband who was playing video games behind me, went “awesome!” hence the birth of our first quilt together! And I did make him help!” I love how pixelated games translate so well into crafts like quilting, because then we get awesome stuff like this!
