Avengers Amigurumi

avengersamigurumi

Last week, I decided to crochet my way through the Avengers.  By combining two different Cthulhu patterns and nixing the tentacles, I managed to get the look I wanted.  I made Black Widow, The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and Hawkeye.  Hawkeye was the most difficult to recreate since, in the film, he wears mostly black which makes him a bit more difficult to place than, say, Captain America.  Still, I added a little bow to give a heavy hint as to his identity.  The Hulk’s my personal favorite.  I just love his angry eyebrows.

A little fashion mayhem – Loki skirt

Loki skirt

In honor of the recent release of the Avengers on Blu-Ray/DVD, I link you now to a very fun Loki skirt by Nerd Alert Creations. What fun it would have been to wear this to the premiere!

I always wonder where they find fabulous material like this for these kind of creations – I definitely never see it at my local fabric stores!

Be sure to check out her other geeky creations – like a Tardis skirt, a Star Trek blueprint-y skirt, an Avengers skirt, and a Sherlock skirt.

Tutorial Tuesday: Avengers Bookmarks!

It’s SUMMER! which means 2 things, big movies in the cinema and little children off school!

Why not keep your boys and girls (nieces, cousins, little brothers?) occupied for a few hours making Crafts by Amanda’s super cute Avengers bookmarks out of lollipop sticks!

I like this craft specifically for the fact that (a) you have to eat a lot of popsicles first and (b) you get to read books after!

Loki Amigurumi

Loki'd

While I don’t think Loki would appreciate being described as “cute”, “adorable”, “darling” and “huggable”; he really is when you crochet him in this cute, adorable, darling and totally huggable pocket version.  From his removable hat, to his long flowing black hair, and his familiar black and green robes, Loki can go anywhere with you to cause mayhem and disaster keep you company when you need him.

Captain America Clips

It’s pretty apparent that I really like Captain America. He’s my favorite Avenger. With the Avengers movie quickly approaching, I’ve been racking my brain trying to think of a Captain inspired outfit. One of the most iconic pieces of his uniform (aside from the shield), are the wings on the side of his helmet. I decided that I was going to make my own version of those wings.

With some left over felt I had from other crafts, I cut out a pattern of the wings that I created. In order to get the to be able to clip in my hair, I cut a small opening on one side to slide the snap clip through. Hand-stitching two pieces of felt together I left the top open a little so that I could add a little bit of stuffing. Not a ton, just enough to give the clip a little plump. Lastly, I hand-stitched the lines to define the wings a bit more.

Overall, I think they’re going to be an excellent addition to my outfit for the midnight release of The Avengers. It was a really easy and super cheap craft.
