Ewok Softie Tutorial

As I start to hear Christmas music being played (it’s only November!), I realize that I need to start on planning gifts for people. Nearly everyone who watched the original Star Wars wanted an Ewok at some point. I know I did! While you probably can’t give your friends a real Ewok, this adorable stuffie toy might just work!

Mollie from Wild Olive created this stuffie tutorial for Star Wars day, May 4th, and it’s one of the cutest Ewoks I’ve ever seen. She provides the pdf pattern for the Ewok and its hood, and the only thing I would change about it would be to add arms and legs. The only things you need are two fabrics in the colors you’d like (she used corduroy), some stuffing, and embroidery thread. So easy, and super adorable! Guaranteed to be loved by Star Wars fans of all ages – give it to a friend or keep it for yourself! Happy sewing!

Knit a Stuffed R2D2

As the designer theredlineknitter says its for the tiny Jedi in your life. You have to start them young, its the rules.  Small huggable and sure to be dragged on wild adventures. Knit in just a couple of pieces (body, arms), this guy is ready to roll. As the designer says:

This very huggable stuffed R2D2 is bound to become a favorite friend for any Star Wars fan. He’s big enough to be a sidekick, but small enough that he can be carried around by even the tiniest future Jedis.

So grab your lightsaber knitting needles and head off on to adventure.

Free Knitted Zombie Pattern!

Isn’t he just lovely? You can thank Fiona Goble for designing this handsome fellow, and Craft Foxes for posting the pattern (with permission of course). He’s actually just one of the zombies you can knit because there’s a whole book of them! Fancy having a Zombie Cop? Perhaps a movie classic like Frankenstein’s Monster or The Mummy? Pick up a copy of Knit Your Own Zombie by Fiona Goble and you can make them all!

My favourite part? The fact that the intestines “tuck neatly into their own specially made pouch.” Awesome.

Enderman Soft Toy

Enderman Sewing Pattern

Do you speak German?  Of course you do, otherwise why would you be here?  This adorable Enderman sewing pattern comes from bleeptrack.de, a ridiculously awesome site devoted to “geeks, games und der ganze rest”.  I could have used Google translate to figure out what is going on with this pattern, but there is a handy video included that saves me the trouble of using my fancy book learning to figure out words.

I am a bit of a Minecraft fanatic, so when I saw this pattern I knew I had to share it no matter what language it was written in.

Go Check out the Pattern here!

Check it out in English here!

While you are there, be sure to check out some of the other awesome stuff on bleeptrack.de, like the Lemmings paintings or the Minecraft comic.

Eyebot Minions

Eyebot army As soon as I saw these little guys, I feel in mini-robot love. Though probably not technically robots, I’m sure you’ll agree they’re quite lovable. Hand-crafted by self-proclaimed “wood butcher” Colin Johnson, these pieces are made of reclaimed cedar wood and dolls’ eyes. Would you have guessed they were made from wood?

They make me think of little Minions from Despicable Me, or even the little alien dudes from the Toy Story trilogy. What do they make you think of? How would you use or display them?

Get your geek on for Child’s Play

This cool charity campaign was recently posted on the Geeks United in Crafts Facebook group wall, and I immediately knew I had to share it here.

Mom's Basement Charity Etsy Shop for Child's Play

Mom’s Basement, a geek community blog, has created a charity Etsy shop to support Child’s Play, an organization that raises money to provide video games, toys, movies and other entertainment to children’s hospitals. All of the money made in this shop will be donated to Child’s Play.

One of the items donated is this fabulous cross-stitched quote from Dresden. I can easily envision it adorning a wall in my own home.
