Bubblegum Fusion Clothing has a pair of hand painted Chuck Taylor Converse that are…ahem…to die for! Unfortunately, you have to send the company a PM over their Facebook page in order to request a pair or even a price.
Even Tauntr has a fairly decent (but mass produced looking) pair of WD Chucks in their store, and they look to go for about $85 a pair.
I’ve always thought those Monster High dolls were pretty unique, but then I saw what FreakieGeekie, a crafster from Louisiana, did with a Deuce Gorgon doll on Craftster!
She removed Deuce’s “snake-hawk” and molded hair, his face-up, and the tattooing on his left arm. Daryl’s new face was painted using watercolors then sealed.
Daryl’s hair is made from a long pile faux fur, his shirt is a poly-cotton remnant, and his jeans are a denim remnant. His vest started its life as a doll’s leather jacket and the wings on the back are made of iron on fabric and were hand-drawn then outlined in Sharpie. His clothes are all hand-sewn and the worn look on his jeans was achieved by rubbing them down with coarse sandpaper. His crossbow is made of a wooden dowel, plastic canvas covered with yarn, hemp cord, a piece of bamboo skewer, and a bit of cardboard; the wooden and cardboard bits are painted with black acrylic paint. His bolts are made from slivers of plastic canvas and little bits of felt.
His motorcycle was a gift from Freakie’s sister. It’s from the Bratz Boyz “Motorcycle Style” Cade doll. Freakie repainted it so that it would look like Daryl’s motorcycle. The crossbow is just propped on the motorcycle.
PeeWee Parker is a doll maker extraordinaire. Just one look at his Flickr site shows his talent for taking existing dolls and giving them full repaints. Here, PeeWee has taken your run of the mill Barbie doll and turned her into Michonne from “The Walking Dead.”
I wasn’t able to find any information on Peewee online to know more about him, so all we can do is ooooh and ahhhh over his creations.
Mike from Semi Sweet has created Daryl’s Ear Necklace, in cookie form.
“The Walking Dead ear necklace cookies are made with a small skull cookie cutter. If you don’t have this cutter, a sandal cookie cutter would work well, too.” Mike’s got a pretty well written and photographed tutorial that will WALK you through the decorating process so you can make your own WALKER ears (get it, WALK…walker ears? Hello, is this thing on?). The process of outlining and flooding each layer seems fairly time consuming, so this isn’t a cookie project you can knock out the same day you want them.
It’s no surprise that I am a fan of the poppets that SpeakGeekandEnter makes. This is now the third (or maybe fourth, I’ve lost track) poppet of her’s that I’ve posted here.
“The amazing Poppet-making Goddess Lanikins graciously agreed to do a swap with lil ol’ me, and this was what I came up with for her. We gave each other a list of characters we love and would like to see plushified/poppetfied and on her list two things caught my eye; Michonne (from The Walking Dead) and ZOMBIES. A perfect combination,” SGAE wrote about this set of poppets.
“Her hair is yarn and took foreverrrr to arrive, but it was worth the wait, I think. Each strand has been individually sewn into her head, and I kind of cheated and her bandana is sewn into her head, too.”
“His face. O__O I had no idea on how I was going to pull off the “no lower jaw” look. I did some test with trying to make a plush with half a face, which all turned out as truly spectacular fails, haha. I ended up painting it to (hopefully) give some kind of illusion of him missing his jaw.”

I know we don’t post a lot of fan art because it’s not technically a “craft”, but I appreciate all geeky creative endeavors. There’s this under-the-radar artist, Tony d’ Amato who is consistently cranking out awesome fan art on his Tumblr page of some of the best geekiest shows/movies out there. Everything from Community to The Walking Dead. For the last season of Lost, he painted a watercolor of a scene from each of the episodes. Maybe if we all rally around him, he might get a clue and start selling his prints, because I don’t know about you, but a zombie watercolor would go nicely over my mantle (if I had one).
