Fashionable and Functional! A Supernatural DIY Skirt.

DevilsTrapSkirt

It may look like a simple and graphic geometric design, but there’s something really cool about this skirt: It’s actually a Devil’s Trap from the show Supernatural.

DevilsTrapSkirt02

What’s even cooler than this skirt? How about making your own? Blogger, Kat, from If Lies Were Cats You’d Be a Litter, has got a great step-by-step tutorial for making your own Devil’s Trap skirt.  The pictures are a little blurry, and the measurements are all in centimeters. However, the instructions are detailed and easy to follow.  Kat uses ribbon to decorate her skirt, but narrow, white bias tape might work just as well. If you’ve got a little sewing know-how already, then this project is perfect for you.  Besides, you never know when you might need to whip off your skirt and catch yourself a demon.  Woah.

Supernatural Demon Hunter Keychain

Any fan of the TV show Supernatural knows the significance of salt. It’s used as protection from evil and can prevent demons from entering rooms. Salt is also used in various ways to get rid of ghosts.

The Ultimate Demon Hunter Keychain that AngelQ sells in her Etsy shop not only features a vial of salt, but also a couple of weapons that the Winchesters often use when hunting demons. AngelQ also makes a necklace featuring salt, as well as a few more Supernatural themed items. It might not be a bad idea to start off the new year with a little something to ward off evil and negativity, even if only symbolically.

DIY Pom Pom Soot Sprites

Soot Sprite pom poms by Kate McCurrach

This has to be one of the easiest DIYs we’ve shared on GeekCrafts – yarn, felt, thread, and BAM! You got yourself some Soot Sprites from Studio Ghibli.

Kate at Scientific Culture shares how she likes to string them up so they hover in the corner of her apartment. “I’ve been taking those little sprites around with me for years now and any visitors always give me weird looks at the eye ball Pom poms I have hanging in the dark corners of my ceiling,” she explained.

For the uninitiated, the Soot Sprites are supernatural spirits seen in Hayao Miyazaki’s famous anime-productions “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited Away” [Wikipedia and Spirited Away wikia].

Would your visitors give you a strange look, or a thumbs up? Share with us in the comments!
