Handmade Geeks
Hey Babe,
So, I like the whole Handmade Ryan Gosling Meme, but he doesn’t really do it for me. I thought maybe a few geeky heart throbs would be better.
Happy Belated Valentine’s Day. I made these just for you.

Okay, I’ve seen a lot of TARDIS-themed items in this here blog, but this purse takes the proverbial cake. It is spectacular. Unfortunately, it’s also sold. According to designer Mochi’s profile, the TARDIS purse isn’t for sale…but the item description says she makes them to order, so I’m not sure whether they”re no longer available or whether you just have to custom order one. Either way, I thought it was fabulous and worth displaying here, even if only for inspiration.
I love this new set of gamer-worthy Pixel Perfect invitations from Hello! Lucky – adorable!! If you just got engaged on V-day, or are planning a geeky wedding, check these out for sure. I’m already married, but these designs sure would make cute stationery…
I realize I already did a Totoro week, but that was so last year. This plushie is just too amazing not to mention. It may very well be the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. I just want to hug it.
This plushie by yael360 on Etsy is absolutely amazing, just crazy amazing. Did I mention it is amazing? Seeing this made me look through the rest of their shop, but there are so many cute and geeky things there that my head exploded and I am writing this with my last breath. Happy Valentines Day.
I am in love (that’s the only Valentine’s reference you’re getting. I’m one of those awful smug-coupled types who ignores Val’s day because they can have romance any old day they want. Sorry.) with this Petri dish mini quilt by Rachel over at Cornflower Blue Studio.
It uses all different kinds of embroidery thread and quilting to make it a really touchable textured piece – perfect for people like me who always want to poke the squishy agar but normally have to refrain for fear of contamination; this one you can play with all you like.
Rachel is entering this piece into The Festival of Alabama Fibre Arts, where she will also be teaching a hyperbolic crochet class. I’m sure we all wish her well with the competition, and all of us not living in the Southern US are a little jealous that we won’t get to come learn from such an uber-geek-crafter.

Check out these amazingly geeky lampshades made by Monika who sells them at her etsy shop PaniKurek. She says:
“The double glass cylinder recalls Art Deco forms in a unique contemporary way. The use of ready-made objects gives an appearance with a Duchamp idea. The lamp is inspired by Maria Sklodowska-Curie, the Polish scientific woman, awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of polonium and radium.”
A true geek.
