Rainbow Brite Amigurumi

As the weather gets colder and the skies get more overcast, it’s nice to have something cute and colorful around. Check out this uber-cute Rainbow Brite Amigurumi from ShadyCreationsEtsy shop. She slipped this one in my inbox, lamenting that this particular amigurumi might not qualify as geeky, but it’s full of 80‘s nostalgia, and we like that around here!

Black Crafts for Black Friday

So now that you’ve stuffed your face, it’s time to empty your wallet! Or, if you’re looking to save some cash, it’s time to get crafting! In honor of Black Friday (the shopaholic’s national holiday and every retail worker’s worst nightmare) here are some Black Crafts (note: not Dark Arts, that’s a differnent blog all together).

Chain Chomp Hat

The Knitting Ninja posted this Chain Chomp Hat on her blog. Chomps may not be the most commonly knitted Mario Bros villian, but they are the ones that look the coolest when they appear to be eating your head.

Mad Dog Softie

Morus sewed this Mad Dog Softie from the book “Softies Only A Mother Could Love” and posted it on craftster. He’s not particularly geeky, but he’s freaking adorable in an “I’m gonna bite your face off” sort of way.

Shaun the Sheep Crochet Doll

I don’t know how geeky it is, but when we were visiting my in-laws in England, my father-in-law showed us several episodes of Shaun the Sheep (by the same people who did Wallace and Grommit) and I just fell in love! It’s a great little claymation and Leelou has done such an amazing job recreating Shaun in this adorable Shaun the Sheep Crochet Doll that she posted on craftster.

Renee’s Top 3 Costumes

When we decided to each pick our top three Halloween costumes from the last two months, I knew I had a tough job ahead of me. We found so much pure gold this year, and it was really hard to choose just three, but I did my best. So without further adieu, my top three:

The Yip Yips by Tracy Lawson, they are sparkly, cute, and nostalgic! What more could you want? And if you’re going to be an adult in a Sesame Street costume, please, please, do not dress up as Elmo!

Two: Baby Elvis Costume! Seriously, at what other time has a kid so small rocked so much (I’m excluding toddlers with mohawks for this one)? CuriousFae did an awesome job on this one! (via craftster).

And last but not least: THE GORE! Halloween is historically about death and ghosts, and GORE, why else did I rent three horror movies to watch tonight? The Dissection Costume wins on the gore factor! To make it even cooler, jessicution didn’t go to the Halloween super store to pick this number up, it is all made from scratch, even the fake blood! Totally awesome! (via craftster).
