Oh My Glob!

I was a little late to the party to get hooked on “Adventure Time,” but I’m with it now and loving these AT cosplays. (For those of you unfamiliar with AT, “…(originally titled Adventure Time with Finn & Jake[2]) is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network. The series follows the adventures of Finn (voiced by Jeremy Shada), a human boy, and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake (voiced by John DiMaggio), a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. Along the way, they interact with the other main characters of the show: Princess Bubblegum (voiced by Hynden Walch), The Ice King (voiced by Tom Kenny), and Marceline the Vampire Queen (voiced by Olivia Olson).”

First up, we have Marceline the Vampire Queen, Fiona the Human, and Princess Bubblegum of the Candy Kingdom.

Next up, we have Simon in his pre-Ice King days and a young Marceline. “This fantastic Adventure Time cosplay gives us Marceline and the Ice King as Marcy and Simon. It’s a sweetly done bit of costuming by Twinzik Cosplay that looks deceptively simple but includes lots of great details. Not only are their clothes perfect, but the makeup and facial prosthetics are spot on and very well done. And even though it’s not a cosplay photo, I wanted to include this painting of Simon and Marcy, just because it goes along so well with the Twinzik Cosplay image above.

kprovido at Deviant Art painted this on an 11″x14″ canvas, aaaaaaaaaaaand it might actually go up for sale!!!

11th Doctor fingerless gloves

11th Doctor fingerless gloves
I love these 11th Doctor fingerless gloves by Bobbie from BobbieBomber on Tumblr. She was inspired by a picture of a crocheted phone cover she saw on Google, and I can see this would be great for that too. There is no pattern, but they appear similar to the Iron Man-Inspired Crocheted Gloves linked here a few months back. Bobbie is also happy to make them, and ship worldwide, if you send her an inbox through tumblr, (though no mention of price) so for those of you who are not crochet inclined, you don’t need to miss out.

DIY Live Long & Prosper Star Trek hoodie

DIY Live Long & Prosper Hoodie

In honor of the recent release of Star Trek: Into Darkness, I thought it fitting to share a Star Trek craft: a do-it-yourself Live Long & Prosper (LLAP) hoodie. My husband got a commercial version of this as a gift, so I thought it was clever that someone came up with their own DIY version.

Since it’s posted on Instructables.com, it includes a full tutorial of how to make it yourself. It involves making a stencil from a thin piece of wood, which I thought was interesting. I wonder if you couldn’t just use butcher/freezer paper?

So have you seen the new Trek movie? We went to the midnight viewing and loved it. Great story, action, and special effects. We’ll definitely be adding it to our Blu-Ray collection. What did you think?

Look at this blanket. Now look at your blanket. Now back to this one. Now back to yours… I’m sorry, I had to. This blanket is epic.  Knit by Jessie’sGirl84 on Ravelry she used a mix of available doctor who designs and her own work to make this epic blanket.

All the Doctor Who… villains, Timelords, Companions  The scarf, the Tardis, Cassandra, even a fez.  Look at these squares. Look at them.

Doctor “Whoops”

Doctor Whoops
Hot off the presses, this Doctor Who set of hoops by Chelsea Bloxsom from Love and a Sandwich was just finished yesterday. I love all her hoops made with fur and felt, and her numerous pieces of awesomeness all over the internet, but these deserve special mention, because I came across them this morning in my Facebook feed, when my sister shared them with my niece. As a newly-obsessed Whovian, I appreciate the way that Doctor Who is making us geeky mums cool again.

The Girl Who Waited

Today, we have another project by SpeakGeekAndEnter, a regular poster over at Crafter. SGAE was last featured here in March 2013 for the Daryl Dixon plush from “The Walking Dead.” Today’s entry is Amy Pond, “The Girl Who Waited.”

‘I’ve been working to try and add in more details to my plushies — since most of my plushies are one of a kind dolls, I figure I might as well make them the very best, with as many details, as I can. I used silver metallic thread for her ‘zipper’ which I loveeeee. And bonus, I even got to use some of those “fancy” stitches on my machine that I never thought I’d use.”

And if you’re interested in getting your own Amy Pond doll, SGAE still has an Etsy store by the same name.
