Friday the 13th Necklace

Friday the 13th necklaceI must hang my head in shame. I — a self-proclaimed horror film geek — have never seen any of the Friday the 13th films. Unless you count Freddy vs. Jason, which I kinda don’t.

Doesn’t mean I’m not immune to the bone-chilling effect Mr. Voorhees has. Just looking at his hockey mask scares me…even in itty-bitty pendant form.

Zanti Jewelry offers this hand-cast metal Friday the 13th pendant, among other unique horror movie themed jewelry, in their Etsy shop.

You may not be able to wear it in time for today’s Friday the 13th, but — like the films — there’ll always be another one. Bwa ha ha!

Plushie Oy from Stephen King’s The Dark Tower

Plushie Oy from Stephen King's The Dark TowerOkay, so I’ve never read any Stephen King books and have seen only a few movies. I don’t usually do scary and his work definitely qualifies as scary in my book (pun intended). But I just might have to read The Dark Tower because of this plushie Oy that Craftster user YumJello01 made for a Dark Tower swap. I love this so much! Is Oy good or evil? Do you think this will be too scary for me?

Reader Submission: Stay Puft Amigurumi

If there are two things I love, they are the Ghostbusters movies, and Bill Murray. Yes, I know Bill Murray was in both Ghostbusters movies, that really isn’t the point. The point is, Tracey, at Mostly Nerdy Crochet, crocheted this desk buddy Stay Puft Amigurumi and I love him. I just love him!

Rocky Horror Amigurumi

Rocky Horror AmigurumiThese sassy little Rocky Horror Picture Show amigurumi — made by Shove Mink (a.k.a. Croshame) – are just too cool for school.

Deceptively simple in shape, these cute yarn creations come to life in the details. Check out Frankie’s removable cigarette, Columbia’s glittery get-up, Riff Raffs red eye circles, and Magenta’s beautifully blasé expression.

I love this combination of crafting and cult cinema. Though, I don’t know how they’re going to Time Warp without any arms or legs…

CMYK Starship Enterprise

CMYK Starship EnterpriseWhen sci-fi geekery meets ink cartridges and a little creativity, it turns into some really amazing art!  Artist Faith Pearson made scenes from sci-fi movies and tv shows using a ton of empty ink cartridges donated by Ink and Media Ltd.

My favorite is of course the Enterprise, but there are also amazingly photographed scenes from Godzilla and King Kong, and a pretty convincing space tunnel!  Check out the full gallery of images at Ink and Media Ltd.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

So long and thanks for all the fish! Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is probably one of the greatest movies of all time.  The opening credits are one of my favorite parts of the movie, and Craftster user  Tracey_K made this needlework bundle-of-awesome as a housewarming gift!   I’ve never worked with metallic thread before, and she says it is no fun to work with… however, it looks amazing!!  The colors work perfectly, and font selection is spot on – this so tops my current favorite crafts!  (and inspires me to finally finish my own cross stitch)  Kudos, Tracey_K, I love it!
