Well, it’s finally here. The END, I mean. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II has launched and with it we here at GeekCrafts bring you an entire week of Harry Potter themed posts. Let’s start things off with a roundup, shall we?
Remember the “Whereabouts Clock” that Mrs. Weasley used to magically keep track of her various family members? Most often they would be at home, work, or traveling, though there were occasional brushes with “mortal peril”, as well. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could use your loved ones’ Twitter feeds to track their whereabouts? With your own Magic Clock, you can!
One of the more interesting side characters is Luna Lovegood. She’s so quirky and more than a little odd, but has a good heart. She also has a unique fashion sense. Not everything in Harry Potter’s world is sparkly magical fun. There are Death Eaters, and they aren’t very nice. For those days when you feel a little “not nice” yourself, perhaps you should don your own Death Eater Mask. You can also make your own version of Bellatrix’s Death Eater Mask.
In his first game of Quidditch, Harry had a heck of a time catching his first Golden Snitch. Perhaps this origami Golden Snitch will be easier for you to get your hands on.

I am always pleased to find references to the tragically-short-lived, but epically-awesome TV series “Firefly“. I am of the opinion that any day with a little Firefly injected in it is a good day. Just the other night I had cause to exclaim, “Sure would be nice to have some grenades, dontcha think?”

Doctor Who has been a favorite of mine since I was just a wee little geek. Tom Baker was the 4th Doctor in the series, but he was my first and has continued to be my favorite as the series has progressed. His iconic scarf and hat have always defined for me the way that the Doctor should look.
This Minimalist painting by Etsian geekasms perfectly captures the 4th doctor in all his splendor. Minimalist paintings are something I am finding very interesting right now, and have been spreading around the interwebs like wild fire. Since I am spending a week in Jolly ol’ London, England, I thought I would share my love of Doctor Who with all of you.
Michael Parsons, who runs geekasms on Etsy, has done a whole slew of Minimalist Paintings and is selling prints on Etsy. Some of my favorites include his Tardis and Weeping Angel prints. Each print is signed and limited to 25 copies, so you better get them while you can.
Designed by Marsha Auguste and available on Ravelry, this scarf represents some of the leading members of DC’s Justice League.
Each symbol is knit separately using double stitch, however since Auguste supplies a chart for each square it’s a simple switch to Intarsia or Fair Isle. If using Fair Isle you’d have the advantage of making each symbol in the round, effectively making the scarf double sided.
This scarf has so many possibilities. You could even use Auguste’s charts to make a Justice League blanket!
