Dalek Victory!

Dalek Victory

This one is more like a victory over the Daleks with its detail and accuracy. It’s an amazing cross stitch Shae made of the Daleks’ Victory poster from Season 6 of Doctor Who. Not only has she managed to chart and stitch this out, but Shae was kind enough to share the charts for this cross stitched poster here.

Shae is a multitalented crafter who also does machine embroidery and paper piece quilting among others. Her crafting can also be found in her Etsy shop, ShaeWow. You might want to be aware that her items sometimes have adult phrases on them but she has items from various fandoms and in different media.

Creative Cross-Stitch, Nerdy Needlework

While I haven’t really done any cross-stitching since about the age of eight, I can appreciate it as an arts-and-craft-form. Done properly and on an interesting subject, and it can be pretty damn impressive. (My mother once re-created this iconic La Dame aux Camelias Mucha poster with spectacular results. Just wish I had a photo to show you!) Anyway, tangent aside, I have found some awesome cross-stitch patterns on The Crafty Companion’s Etsy shop. She creates and sells patterns on an array of geek themes from Doctor Who to Game of Thrones, Firefly to Harry Potter. Very cute, not to mention reasonably priced. ($3 per pattern seems like a good deal to me!)

Another Newbie

Kaitlen with parasol

Hey everyone! I’m Kaitlen, another new addition to the Geek Crafts family. First of all, I have a confession: I’m awful at video games. My hand-eye coordination is such that I’m more likely to injure myself with the controller than I am to actually beat a board. That didn’t stop me from working at some gaming mags, though…and developing a slight Katamari addiction.

Fortunately, I make up for my lack of gaming talent with my excellent crafting skills. Screenprinting, sculpting, painting, jewelry-making—I’ve done it all. (Except knit, for some reason.) I also seem to devote quite a lot of time to consuming great geek fodder such as Firefly, Futurama, Doctor Who, Buffy, and, well, a lot more. And it’s always a pleasure to combine my geekiness with my craftiness, like when I sculpt Flying Spaghetti Monster Christmas ornaments or make necklaces out of circuit boards.

I also run the lifestyle/fashion/design blog pinup.punkrockelite.org. Oh, and feel free to follow me on Twitter at @kaitlen or @punkpinup. I’ll be back here on Thursday—see you then!

It’s-a Me, Anna

Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as when Mario says it. Oh well.

I’m just taking a few minutes to introduce myself. I’m one of the new bloggers here on GeekCraft.com, and I’ll be posting every Sunday.

I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my husband and our two cats, Aerith (named after a character from Final Fantasy VII) and Rikku (after a character from Final Fantasy X).

Most of my geekiness comes from watching copious amounts of television, that usually have some sort of geek tie-in, like, The Big Bang Theory, Warehouse 13, Doctor Who, and anything made by Joss Whedon.

The way that I geekcraft is mostly by making plushies of my favorite characters from TV shows (though currently I’ve only made characters from Doctor Who, I’m working on others).

When not watching far too much television for one person to handle, I’m making YouTube videos with my friends, and playing on Photoshop.

Feel free to check out my bio and the other new blogger bios in the about page.

Allons-y,
Anna

Baby in a TARDIS Suit!

If you go all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey for babies prepare to jump to warp.

I just can’t get over this cute 6 month old girl and her dad all dressed up for halloween! I especially love this:

“The Tardis is not the most current one because we realised pretty quickly that my husband could better pull off David Tennant than Matt Smith, so we matched her to her appropriate Doctor.”

Yea, its a good job you did that sabrinalouisemiller … nobody’d be able to take a mismatched TARDIS seriously :-)
