Photos not Showing

We’ve been having this problem with images not showing up in peoples feeds.
What I need from you guys if you could be so kind as to comment on this post with the name of the feed/rss/blah program you’re using and I can look into making it better. I know they didn’t appear in Bloglines as an example. Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.

How-To: Kerbal Space Program Costumes

Halloween is but 44 days away, meaning you only have 7 weekends left to finish your costume. Haven’t even thought of an idea yet? Well, allow me to suggest Kerbals from The Kerbal Space Program!

Kerbal Space Program Custome

Reddit user awallick has posted a great How-To for these Kerbal costumes that he and his friends created for Dragon Con this year, showing the ingenious process which includes paper macheing over gym balls to create the monstrous space helmets. Click here to see how the KSP costumes were created.

Looking forward to more great costume ideas in the run up to Halloween. Have one of your own? Let us know in the comments below.

Eye See What You Did There

Sssamantaa posted a photo of a make-up job she did over at Reddit.

“First off, yes, the iris is absolutely photoshopped! In some cases, when I’m doing makeups that are more on the fantasy/art side as opposed to beauty, I will have two versions. One version is just plain – no editing, aside from light balance if necessary, and one I edit to my artistic desire. Sometimes I’ll post the edited version elsewhere (tumblr, Facebook, etc.), most times I do nothing with it. In this case, I took the photo in low lighting with no flash, and I felt I lost a lot of the detail in the iris,” Sssamanthaa wrote over at Reddit.

So unfortunately, this image isn’t completely handmade, but at least she admitted it.

“For the inside of the eye, I used white eyeliner with various shades of grey to shade. For the lashes, I sketched out the shadows with a brown eyebrow pencil and then used liquid liner to create the lashes. The shadowing for the crease/wrinkles is all eyeshadow!”

Book Review: Knitted Toy Tales

toytalescover

Most geeks start off their nerd-life with books. We all remember “once upon a times” and “happily ever afters.” Knitted Toy Tales by Laura Wong captured that feeling, the one you felt when you first learned to read your fairy tales.

The patterns are well-written and super-easy to follow. It allowed for substitutions with the weight of yarn used which is always a bonus. There are many adorable projects within, including  the three little pigs! In the picture below, you see Frederick the Frog Prince (sans crown).

Simply adorable. Thanks to my friend Nikky for knitting him up in no time at all.
