Superman Symbol Mowed Into Lawn

I would love to do something like this in my yard, but I don’t think my husband would go for it. There’s a fine line of what men will put up with where their yards are concerned, but I love this because it’s simple and geeky.

I Don’t Care That It’s Your Birthday

129980_05Apr13_IMG_0586Pottermouth, a Craftster user since 2008, posted this entry about her son’s recent birthday in the Cooking section.

“My son gave me free rein on decorating his birthday cake this year so I thought it was appropriate that I made Grumpy Cat. The cake is from a box (!) that I altered with The Cake Doctor white cake recipe and I’ve added the frosting recipes below.”

For those of you not in the know about Grumpy Cat, it’s a nickname given to an angry-looking snowshoe cat that rose to fame online after its pictures were posted to Reddit in late September 2012. The cat is also known as “Tard” which is short for Tardar (Tartar) Sauce. Her owner, Tabatha Bundesen, says that her permanently grumpy face is due to feline dwarfism. he Bundesens say that Grumpy Cat’s face is due to feline dwarfism and an under bite. She and her brother Pokey were born to normal parents with “a flat face, bubble eyes, and a short tail.” Grumpy Cat is undersized and has hind legs that “are a bit different.”

Looking for Writers!

Hello again! I have recently taken over the site (hi!) and I’m trying to get everything lined up to make Geek Crafts better than ever. If you would like to be a writer, send me a mock post at geekcrafts@gmail.com. Even if you’ve sent one before, feel free to send it again so I can get this party started!! There’s no pay for this position, but you do get bragging rights!

What this would mean: I would need you to commit to posting at least once a week, have functional knowledge of WordPress including how to upload media, and proof-reading is the ultimate skill I require you to have.

Geek Crafts is About to Get Better!

We’re planning a big re-launch of Geek Crafts in the new year- it’s going to be fantastic.

What do we need from you? Your awesome writing skills! We’re looking to add some new writers to the team. If you think you can do it, then we would like you to send us a sample post to geekcrafts@gmail.com. You must be excellent at proof-reading and editing, comfortable with WordPress enough to post with images, have software and knowledge to re-size images and be able to post at least once a week on a predefined day of the week. Of course you must be geeky and crafty. And proof-read, proof-read, proof-read.

Plants vs. Zombies vs. Santa

I wish I had a tutorial to offer you, but I don’t. Here’s the (awesome) scoop anyway: This dude, Sean, has an apparently crafty and fabulous mother. He told her that he and his girlfriend were into Plants vs. Zombies shortly before Christmas. She made them these delightful stockings. He shared the story on Reddit, and it was subsequently tweeted by PopCap’s Director of Editorial and Social Media, Jeff Green. Who thought they were socks, before being corrected by much of the twitterverse. And now I share it with you. Enjoy.
