Star Trek Shuttle Craft Tent

enterprise-camping-shuttlecraft-1701-d-tent-star-trek-dave-delisle-davesgeekyideas-2016

Right now, this craft is just an idea, and unfortunately, doesn’t exist yet. :( It’s only some digital renderings, and that makes me sad.

This is a 2-man tent design that features an entrance at the back (just like the actual shuttlecraft). The tent stores in a carrying case that splits apart to become the thrusters. It was created by Dave, of “Dave’s Geeky Ideas.”

As Dave pointed out, the tent also doubles as a reference to Star Trek V, which opened with Kirk, Spock and McCoy camping at Yosemite park.

This started as a bunk bed design several months back, but he didn’t want to keep posting bed designs at the time, so he shelved it.

Captain Janeway Plushie

captain janeway

Supermutts of New York recently posted this plushie of Capt. Kathryn Janeway from “Star Trek: Voyager.” She was made for the “Flaptain” (Fleet Captain) of Supermutt’s husbands Star Trek Fan group. Janeway is her hero so that’s why Supermutts made her a mini Janeway.

She used a pattern for Spock and Kirk by a lovely etsy seller and then made her own adjustments.

Kathryn Janeway, played by Kate Mulgrew, is a fictional character in the Star Trek franchise. As the captain of the Starfleet starship USS Voyager, she was the lead character on the television series “Star Trek: Voyager,” and later a Starfleet admiral, as seen in the 2002 feature film “Star Trek: Nemesis.” Although other female captains had appeared in previous Star Trek episodes and other media, she is the only one to serve as the central character of a Star Trek TV

Boldly Going Where No Socks Have Gone Before

Picard socks by Linda Jo Park

Linda Jo Park, of BeadKnitter Patterns, has created some out-of-this-world socks in honor of Captain Picard from Star Trek. You can find her pattern here.

She also suggests that the pattern could be easily adapted to reference other characters:

There’s no reason why a person couldn’t do them in Captain Kirk gold, Spock blue (you get two choices there), or even Deanna Trois lavender. Or perhaps you’d rather have Gorn green.

What color combo would you choose? Let us know in the comments below!

Happy Earmuff Day!

Ah, yes…it’s that time again: Earmuff Day!  Actually, I’m ashamed to report that somehow this very salient holiday escaped my notice until this evening, when a friend alerted me to its existence.  My response was, of course, to make little miniature earmuffs out of all of my leftover pipe cleaners and mini yarn pom pom balls from previous projects and go around the house putting earmuffs on everything from the owl shaped cookie jar in the kitchen to the hurricane lamps in the living room.  (My boyfriend will be so impressed when he wakes up tomorrow morning and sees my handiwork! Is there such a thing as the Earmuff Fairy?  I think I sense a new tradition…)

In the spirit of Earmuff Day, here are some crafty earmuff ideas from around the web:

These Princess Leia earmuffs made me smile (links to a YouTube video with DIY instructions, thanks to DeviantArt user Taniathepirate):

I want to learn how to crochet just so I can make these Spock ears (spotted on Croshame)!

I was unable to find any instructions for these Pokeball earmuffs found on Etsy.com [via monster.loveitsomuch.com], or these R2D2 earmuffs (spotted on DeviantArt from user Bee-Delicious), but they both look like they could be recreated pretty easily with some faux craft store fur and felt:

Plus, how to create faun earmuffs (thanks to Meri Greenleaf at Elfling Blog):

So, I’m dying to know: What are you up to this Earmuff Day?  Any big plans?? Hope you have a good one!
