Got some baby geekcrafting in your future? Check out these stellar space ornaments by Laura Chau! Hung all together, I think they would make a great mobile for a baby’s nursery. Or leave them as individual projects to hang on a space-themed tree for the holidays.

Laura is also a prodigious designer of other knit wonders – check her out on Ravelry, too.

Making “Labyrinth” Dolls From Barbies

labrinyth

Recently, a father posted an album on Imgur of his process of turning ordinary Barbie dolls into customized dolls of Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie into their characters from “Labyrinth.” The dolls were requested by his seven year old daughter, Rowan. Dad even took it one step further: he created custom boxes for the finished dolls as well!

But the amazing thing is when you look at where the dolls started, you think there’s just no way these are going to look like the actors themselves! Dad proved me wrong. In fact, there were three dolls used: one Ken and two Barbies. One of the Barbies even had her hair sacrificed for the Bowie doll.

Miss Argentina Poppet From “Beetlejuice”

argentina
Can’t you just hear her voice here? “It’s all very personal. And I’ll tell you something: if I knew then what I know now…I wouldn’t have had my little accident.”

I am a fan of the poppets that show up on my usual lurking places on the Internet, and this one is truly unique: Miss Argentina from “Beetlejuice.” This one was created by Halloween Town from Spain, and posted over on Craftster.

If you look closely at the poppet’s pictures, you can see she even has the scars from her “little accident,” because according to the movie, people who commit suicide become civil servants, and Miss Argentina work as the receptionist of the “Afterlife Office.”

Show Your Geeky Leather Cuff

Mardigan Enterprises on Etsy caught my eye with their Arc Reactor Leather cuff as I was browsing.  They have a lot of great designs. And also leather wrapped flasks if that is more your speed. The cuff that caught my attention, Iron Man pictured below.

There are other cuffs, that can catch a geek’s eyes, Tardis,  or perhaps, you need a cuff burdened with glorious purpose.

Steve of Steve’s Wooden Toys of New Zealand, posted this Rocking Ride-In X-Wing Fighter on Deviant Art.

The little R2-D2 in the back is removable so he can accompany the pilot to the swamps of wooden Degobah. The rocker is made of solid wood: pine, native macrocarpa and rimu. It measures 1150 mm (45 inches) long, 1200 mm (47 inches) wide, 650 mm (25.5 inches) tall, and the seating area is 280 mm (9 inches) wide. The wings can also be unbolted to allow for ease of intergalactic travel in the back of a medium sized car.
