Space Invaders Quilt Plan

My PMQG guildmate Elizabeth Hartman just posted about her plans for piecing a Space Invaders quilt for her nephew. She used one of the Kyla May video game prints I also loved (found at Cool Cottons here in Portland) as inspiration, and she’s hand-drawn a blueprint for a super-unique pixelated quilt top made with Kona solids and prints…

From her post:

I played around with a couple of different ideas before I determined that I didn’t actually want to use any of the print on the front of the quilt. Instead, I decided to play with the pixelated look of the print and make the quilt top into a super-enlarged version of the fabric.

I can’t wait to see this quilt project unfold!

Crochet shawl pattern: Our Mrs. Reynolds (aka Yo-Saff-Bridge)

Mrs Reynolds Firefly shawl In my Internet wanderings seeking a new project to crochet, I found this lovely shawl pattern at Ravelry. Lovely, in that it is actually pretty, and lovely, in that it’s an homage to probably my favorite episode of Joss Whedon‘s “Firefly” – “Our Mrs. Reynolds“, in which Captain Mal finds himself married to a young “innocent”. Classic Joss dialogue in this one (“Special Hell”, anyone?)

But I digress. The shawl pattern is what I’m here to share with you, so share I shall. Megan Nieves (aka Maggie_the_Spy) created the pattern, and shared the pictures in the Ravelry entry, but the actual pattern is shared on her LiveJournal. Be sure to check out either source for her backstory of meeting Christina Hendricks, who played the young “bride” Saffron on “Firefly”, at a Comic-Con. Pretty cool!

Tutorial Tuesday: Edward Scissorhands Costume!

Instructables are running a halloween competition, time’s almost up to submit entries, but you should completely go there and look at the awesome work that’s already been submitted.

I love Caraslifka’s children’s Edward Scissorhands costume and tutorial… but hats off to her son for really bringing the costume to life.

Baby in a TARDIS Suit!

If you go all wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey for babies prepare to jump to warp.

I just can’t get over this cute 6 month old girl and her dad all dressed up for halloween! I especially love this:

“The Tardis is not the most current one because we realised pretty quickly that my husband could better pull off David Tennant than Matt Smith, so we matched her to her appropriate Doctor.”

Yea, its a good job you did that sabrinalouisemiller … nobody’d be able to take a mismatched TARDIS seriously :-)
