Pac Man Ukulele

Pac Man UkuleleWhen I am not playing Video Games, I tend to dabble in a lot of different things.  One of those things that took my fancy was the Ukulele, due in no small part to a Youtube Video of one of the most talented Ukulele players of our time.

So when I stumbled on this Pac Man Ukulele by celentanowoodworks on Etsy I knew I had to share it with all of you.  It is just too cool.  It took me a while to really piece together what I was seeing.  It’s Pac Man, the fret markings are like power pellets, and the head is a ghost.  It’s like Pac Man was always supposed to be a ukulele, and now HE IS!

Crochet Creature Connection

Roxy Craft Crochet CreaturesJust as geek crafts can be found in the strangest of place, so too can geeky crafters.

The last place you might think of looking for one would be in the U.S. Army. However, that is precisely where the creator of these two charming, crocheted fellows can be found.

Made from Roxycraft patterns (that seem to be out-of-print, sadly), these little guys were stitched up by my brother-in-law when he was stationed in the Middle East last year.

When you craft gifts for a friend or loved one, you can’t help but keep them in mind as you work on the project: will they like the color? Will it fit right? Will they get the in-joke I incorporated? Will it go straight to the Goodwill box?

So, I like to think that stitching these — as well as the other creatures he made for his family — helped give him a sort of quiet connection to the people he loved back home.  It makes these plushies all the more special to know that he was thinking of us when he was half a world away.

Not to mention, they’re friggin’ awesome! I still can’t get over the dragon’s wings. Or it’s little toes…

Arcade Game Brooches

Arcade Pin“You call that a video game? Back in my day, we didn’t have swanky consoles to play games on. No sir! We had to go to a special place called an arcade. And we didn’t have no fancy things like ‘save points.’ You had three lives, and when they were gone, you had to start over! And did I ever tell you about the time I beat Ms. Pac-Man? It was the night of October 2, 1984…”

Does this sound a bit like you? Then perhaps you should pick up one of MafiosaGrrl’s sweet arcade machine brooches. They’re custom-made from felt, so you can model yours after your favorite retro arcade game.

Pin one to your jacket, and wait for the compliments…or the questions from young’uns who have no idea what the heck you’re wearing.

Crocheted Pac Man Toys

Carey Huffman of Full Of Fluff made these awesome Crocheted Pac Man Toys for a friend, and now the world is knocking down her door for the pattern (which you can find on her blog). Now, I know I posted a Pac Man craft just a couple days ago, but have you looked at these guys? They are so cute and full of win! I can see hours of entertainment for both me and my cats if I had these babies around (although I might just put them on my desk where they can look cool). (via shinyshiny).

Pac Man Felted Wool Mittens

It’s definitely winter around here, and so, I think it is safe to say it’s “mitten season”. These Pac Man Felted Wool Mittens by EnviroCrafter are super awesome and look super warm. Not only that, but they are “green“, as they were made from felted wool from recycled sweaters and lined with new polar fleece insides! These are an awesome gift for the warm mitten loving, Pac Man aficionado in your life.
