Let’s Go Flying

Last week I shared NeedleNoodle’s Ray Gun pattern in both knit and crochet. I should have know bettern than to just stop there. She has tons of great patterns for lots of geeky knitting and crochet.  Two patterns caught my eye as too more to share of their work.

First up a crochet hot air balloon. Its oh so very cute. And the size states it can hold a lego minifig

But it gets better.  There is also an airship.

Look at that air ship, my first thought was combining these two patterns, and making a Steampunk themed baby mobile.  I just need to find a baby. Plan B – Christmas ornaments, imagine these done in sparkle yarn, add a chain to hang them from. And you have unbreakable pretty for the tree.

Knit an Arc Reactor Shawl

I am a member of the Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist, fan club and have the T-shirt to prove it. But I can’t wear a shirt like that to work. What I can wear is an Arc Reactor shawl and see who notices.  Crafter  Mabiana has done just that, knitting a  pattern to emulate the  Vibranium arc  reactor.

The pattern is only charted,  but look at what you get.  Your very own, quietly nerdy shawl.  You may not have built it in a cave with a box of scraps, but you can put it together with a couple of sticks and some string.

Knit Avengers Dishcloth Squares

Tumblr user Captain-Rachel has been kind enough to put out patterns to knit all the Avengers as dishcloths. These patterns, include written instructions, and charts so you can have a cloth made with your preferred instructions. The list includes all the Avengers, the team logo, S.H.I.E.L.D logo, and a cleverly designed Coulson logo. All you need for your team of Avengers.

Book Review: Knitted Toy Tales

Most geeks start off their nerd-life with books. We all remember “once upon a times” and “happily ever afters.” Knitted Toy Tales by Laura Wong captured that feeling, the one you felt when you first learned to read your fairy tales.

The patterns are well-written and super-easy to follow. It allowed for substitutions with the weight of yarn used which is always a bonus. There are many adorable projects within, including  the three little pigs! In the picture below, you see Frederick the Frog Prince (sans crown).

Knit a Very Cunning Cupcake

So Be It. You Shall Be the Fellowship of the Scarf

So everyone has seen the new trailer for the Desolation of Smaug right? Of course you have. Now back to the scarf. This is an epic double knit scarf of the iconic image from Fellowship of the Ring

Look at this scarf.  Now look at this poster. That is some good work right there. Tumblr user, The day was new, does great double knitting work. And she designed this on the fly using the image. The Tree of Gondor chart is available for free on Raverly. I only have so many crafty hours in the day. I just need a few extra.
