A Felt R2-D2 Handbag

r2d2 bag

Moscow, Russia-based Lyuba and Max of Krukrustudio have created a fantastic felt Star Wars handbag that looks just like the cute astromech droid, R2-D2.

Made of fine quality wool felt and decorated with prints and embroidery, this bag is designed with attention to details. The bag is padded and keeps it’s shape well, with a removable adjustable strap, and an inner pocket.

Dimensions:
full height: 17″
“effective” height (body height): 12″
diameter: 7.5″

It is available to purchase online from their studio or from their Etsy shop, for $185 plus shipping. Order yours today. Droids are standing by to take your order! Or if droids aren’t your thing, they’ve got tablet and iPad covers, even other bags, for the Whovian, Anglophile, or other type of geek in your life.

Geeky Free Printable Valentines

StarWarsValentinesPrintables

It’s never too early to get started on those Valentines, and I’ve found some great ones for Star Wars and Doctor Who fans.

The first series of valentines are designs from Alecia at AleciaDawn Photography.  She’s got seven separate designs, all of them epic, and all of them perfect for kids and adults (and anyone in between).  All you have to do is download and print them out on some card stock.

DoctorWhoValentinesPrintable

The second series I found while exploring the wilds of the intarwebz are valentines from Heidi Schulz and her blog Frantically Simple.  These exploit my ultimate weakness, Doctor Who.  These are definitely worth traveling through space and time, but you’ll only have to download them and print them out on some card stock to enjoy.

ZombieValentinesPrintables

The last series of valentines I found are from Hanasaurusrex!  Nothing says “I love you” like zombies, so look no further for Valentine’s Day cards than here!

Wrapping Up with Geeky DIY Gift Wrap Ideas

StarWarsWrappingPaperDIY

Let’s pretend you’ve got all your shopping done for Christmas.  Now what? If you’re like me (well, if you’re like me you don’t have any shopping done, but like I said, let’s pretend) if you’re like me, you suck at wrapping gifts.  Even if your wrapped gifts end up looking like a two-year-old went crazy with a roll of scotch tape, the paper itself can look really cool, and you can make it yourself!  What’s even better is that these wrapping paper ideas work for year round, not just the holidays.

If the force is strong with this one present, then you should try Rebecca’s Star Wars silhouette gift tags and wrap idea from her blog Older and Wiser. All you need is a printer, scissors, and a glue stick.

OwlPostFreePrintableWrappingPaper

If you’re pressed for time, the Harry Potter fans in your life will get a kick out of this free printable owl post gift wrap paper.  Just download and print it out on some craft paper.  You can thank Chiara from Celeste Fritatta for this one.

ColorMeWrappingPaperDIY

This one is my favorite, and it’s so easy.  All you need are some crayons and a piece of decorative wash tape and you’ve got interactive wrapping paper.  Rachel on Lines Across has got even more super easy and fun interactive gift wrap ideas like this one you should definitely check out.

This is the Adirondack Chair You’ve Been Looking For

Do you need to geek up your patio or porch? Then how about adding your favorite little astromech droid?

r2-d2-adi-chair

Paul Ryan of Xtinct 3D Design in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, crafted this “Alderaandack” chair out of CNC-cut cedar wood.

Hmmm, I just realized that the originators of both of my Star Wars geek crafts today are Canadian. I wonder if the Great White North is planning any kind of attack on the rebels.

To Infinity and Beyond!

to infinity and beyond by danluvisiart

Deviant Art user, DanLuVisiArt, has posted a series of his work called “Popped Culture.” I think his best one so far is his portrait of

Dan even has a story to go along with each portrait. Here is Buzz’s story:

Han Solo Lego Portrait

Back in April I went along to The Sydney Brick Show: a big Lego event where Lego sculptors bring some of their awesome creations and chat with other fanatics, whilst hundred of little kids run around suffering from excitement overload. I was originally going to write an entire post about the event, but there was just so much awesome stuff there, that I’ve kind had to just cut it down to the best for now. And here you are: Han Solo Lego Pixel Art.

Han Solo Lego Portrait

This incredible portrait of Star Wars’ Han Solo is something like 1 metre squared and is made up of over TWENTY THOUSAND bricks. And they are all those tiny “one-ers” that you miss when clearing up and then stand on days later.

Han wasn’t the only pixel art there. Continue reading
