Subtle, Geek Style

Let’s face it. As much as we don’t care to admit it, there are times in our lives in which we just can’t let our Geek Flag fly without some sort of repercussions. Sometimes, we have to tone it down just a notch or two. This leaves the question of “How can we geek up our wardrobe without being totally obvious?”

This purse by StellarCheri is the perfect example!

I would feel more like Real Self if I could carry this bag with me to those many meetings at the school board that I attend. It’s stylish, not over the top, cool and classy all rolled up into one purse! Check out StellarCheri‘s other wonderful creations!

One for the Biology Geeks!

Today I have searched the digital shelves of Etsy for something to delight the biology geeks. And I found the wonderful works of Anatomolgy. She creates jewellery based around body parts. My favourite is this heart pictured but she also features bones, brains, neurons, synapses and some atoms for the chemistry lovers among us. I recommend you check her out, I shall be dropping hints with the boyfriend for my birthday!

Support Your Local Death Eaters!

Support Your Local Death Eaters!

Voldemort’s been defeated. Muggles are no longer tormented by wizards. There’s not many openings for experienced Death Eaters in the wizarding world today. What’s an unemployed DE to do? Since they weren’t qualified for unemployment benefits and the training they had previously was rather specialized, there weren’t too many options open.

Some were lucky. Word along Diagon Alley is that Lucius Malfoy became the new Spokes-wizard for one of the top hair care product companies. Some were not so lucky. Two of them, however, were rather crafty (pun intended) in their search for new careers and opened up a lovely craft shop on Etsy named Death Eaters Delights.  Owned by Dixiebell and Qui, they’ve put their passion for magic into crafty magic and have created some lovely items.

Dixiebell has recreated the text books from the Harry Potter Series as keepsake boxesto store your precious mementos and currently has several in stock.

Support Your Local Death Eaters!2It seems, that with so much extra time, the pair have discovered Muggle television and so Qui has recreated the Kitty Riley I <3 Sherlock buttons that are seen in the third episode of season 2 on BBC’s Sherlock series.

They offer other items as well ranging from pillows to masks and wands. So, please, stop by, browse, shop. Support your local Death Eater!

Faaaallllkooooorrr!

It’s a little weird that I’m doing a second Neverending Story post. I mean, if you asked “Do you like The Neverending Story?” of course I would say “Yes,” but it’s not a fandom I’m deeply into, either, if that makes any sense. I’ve never made my own, for instance, felted Falkor. (I encourage you to click through. Irma Hoani, also known as “FairySpit” on Etsy, took many detailed photos of this really lovely piece of felted art. She even has a post about the work in progress!)

But I don’t control what things I find on the internet during any given week, do I? (Shh. Quiet, you.) That’s the coolest thing I’ve seen this week, so that’s what I’m sharing. :)

The Best TARDIS Purse Ever

Okay, I’ve seen a lot of TARDIS-themed items in this here blog, but this purse takes the proverbial cake. It is spectacular. Unfortunately, it’s also sold. According to designer Mochi’s profile, the TARDIS purse isn’t for sale…but the item description says she makes them to order, so I’m not sure whether they”re no longer available or whether you just have to custom order one. Either way, I thought it was fabulous and worth displaying here, even if only for inspiration.

Test Tube Chandeliers

Check out these amazingly geeky lampshades made by Monika who sells them at her etsy shop PaniKurek. She says:

“The double glass cylinder recalls Art Deco forms in a unique contemporary way. The use of ready-made objects gives an appearance with a Duchamp idea. The lamp is inspired by Maria Sklodowska-Curie, the Polish scientific woman, awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the discovery of polonium and radium.”

A true geek.
