Yakko Warner at RCCC
This is actually the second time I’ve posted about a Yakko Warner cosplay, and I think this one takes the cake!
Brady Danger Gage creates amazing costumes. This Yakko Warner was created for the 2016 Rose City Comic Con in Oregon. Brady also made Wakko and Dot Warner costumes as well, AND he created costumes for those costumes: Batman for Yakko, Superman for Wakko, and Wonder Woman for dear little Dot. They were surprises for the awesome Keith Tucker, based on his own artwork.
And if you click here, you’ll be able to watch a short video of Rob Paulsen, talented voice-over artist and the voice of Yakko, meeting the Animaniac in real life.
From a practical point of view, if you’ve ever thought about making a mascot-type foam head for a costume, you might want to check out Brady’s Facebook page. He’s got a series of pictures that show how to stack the foam, how to start sketching on the faces, and how to wrap it in fabric. It’s a good tutorial.
Hidden Mickey Disney Cross Stitch
I’m an avid reader of Epbot, a blog about geekery, girliness and goofing off. Jen Yates, who also writes Cake Wrecks, is an avid fan of all things Disney. And while I am not and haven’t ever been to Disneyland or Disneyworld, have learned a thing or two about the House of Mouse from Jen. Such as, did you know there are hidden Mickey Mouse heads all over the parks? That’s what I thought of when I saw this cross stitch project.
Amigurl55 recently posted this project on Craftster. It took her about a month and a half to complete, and the finished size is about 13″x12″. I count 28 different Disney characters and a variety of icons associated with them.

Rey’s Portion Bread
I’ve been on a bit of a cooking kick lately, thanks to a couple new cookbooks, but this recipe…I need to squeeze this one into the menu. It’s Rey’s Portion Bread, from The Force Awakens!
Now you can recreate this magical meal by making your own version of Rey’s Portion Bread in under a minute. Pour the ingredients into a cup, add liquid and heat, and just like that — you’ve got a fluffy, sweet, portable bread ready to take with you to the junk fields. In reading the recipe, I can only guess the pistachio green color comes from the matcha powder.
Ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoons cake flour
1-1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons whole milk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Place the oil in a mug and swirl around to grease the inside.
2. Add the cake flour, sugar, matcha powder, baking powder and salt into the mug, stirring together.
3. Pour in the milk and vanilla, then cook in the microwave on high for 45 seconds.
4. Let cool slightly and serve.
It’s the perfect little snack to make for your own little scavenger after a busy day of work.
