The Best TARDIS Purse Ever

Okay, I’ve seen a lot of TARDIS-themed items in this here blog, but this purse takes the proverbial cake. It is spectacular. Unfortunately, it’s also sold. According to designer Mochi’s profile, the TARDIS purse isn’t for sale…but the item description says she makes them to order, so I’m not sure whether they”re no longer available or whether you just have to custom order one. Either way, I thought it was fabulous and worth displaying here, even if only for inspiration.

Beautiful Balloons

In case you don’t know, Jen of Cake Wrecks fame has a newish blog, Epbot, which is devoted to a variety of things crafty/steampunk/sci fi/Disney. (Dunno where the woman finds the time to run both blogs, but she does it somehow!)

For Christmas 2011, Jen and her husband, John, opted for a steampunk tree, which was a multi-step process that involved making/customizing ornaments—gears, test tubes, snowflakes, all kinds of things. But my favorites are these fabulous mini hot air balloons, for which Jen has helpfully provided a thorough tutorial. I know the holidays are over, but given that most of us don’t have the apparently boundless energy of Jen and John, I thought it might be a good idea to start crafting now so we’re ready for next year….

Desserts, Moustaches, Geekery

The tagline for Betty Turbo’s Etsy shop is: dessert, moustaches & muscles. Naturally, I approve. And that sort of sums up the content of her shop—her prints feature things like cupcakes and Parks & Rec’s furry-lipped Ron Swanson, and a variety of wrestlers. What this description omits, however, is the geekitude. (See, we got to the relevant part eventually.) Because, in addition to the aforementioned desserts, moustaches, and muscles, the shop contains awesomely geeky prints of Dr. Horrible quotes. And a Rupert Giles birthday card. And a Star Trek/Twin Peaks crossover. And the majorly spoiler-y Dammit Joss Whedon print, a visual compendium of major characters who died in Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and Dr. Horrible. (Don’t click if you don’t already know!)

Oh, and just because some of us (I’m not saying who) love him so very much, here’s a bonus card featuring everyone’s favorite undead Brit, Spike. I feel like this print would make a good inspirational message to tack up next to your mirror. Yes, Spike, go ahead and call me gorgeous every time I look in the mirror. I could deal with that…. Sorry, fantasy has taken over again.

Friday Roundup: Terry Pratchett

I have just finished reading Terry Pratchett’s ‘Hat Full of Sky’ and I am a great fan of his Discworld knovels so that is what has inspired me to search for Terry Pratchett themed crafts this week. It has been quite a task too, not that many recent ones kicking around to show you so some are a couple of years old but excellent none the less.

***

First up is this amazing mug with the Ankh Morpork Coat of Arms on it made by aethelberga for Ruby Copperhead on Craftster.

Second is this adorable set,  made by LunasCrafts on Etsy, of cute crochet Nac Mac Feegles (though I wouldn’t advise calling a Nac Mac Feegle cute if you don’t feel like a fight).

Show your love for the Witch of all Witches, Grany Weatherwax, with this delightful necklace made by Moonblush Designs on Etsy.

Geek Love

I celebrated my 8 year wedding anniversary yesterday. Bronze is the traditional 8 year anniversary gift, which made me think about Steam Punk weddings, chemistry themed weddings, robot weddings, etc.  I still am hooked on looking at wedding ideas, and here are a few I think I would use if I were to get married again, (to the same guy, of course.)

For the robot love, check out this amazing robot cake topper, from Etsy shop buildersstudio . We have one on our mantel, and I love seeing it everyday.

Who needs a rose, when you could adorn your lapel with a Lego man. Check out these cool Lego boutineers from off beat bride.

Check out these awesome robot wedding shoes also from Off Beat Bride.

And if you’re more into games than robots or Legos, check out this board game wedding cake. (that I made for my friends Deb and Brad.)
