Dr. Who Costumes

Kelly Szpunar at HunkyDory comes up with the best stuff. When this originally landed in my inbox I was thrilled, then disappointed as Halloween was over and geek crafts had been pretty well costumed…but after some discussion, it was decided that these amazing Doctor Who Costumes were too cool to hang onto until next year. The Doctor is so well done! And the take on the Dalek is too cool, I love that it is an “outfit” made to look Dalek-y and not a full Dalek suit made of carboard and spray painted tennis balls! And the super Doctor Who geek in me is thrilled that someone went as a TARDIS, since the TARDIS is supposed to be a living entity, after all.

Torchwood Babiez

torchwood-babiez

I was happily googling along, attempting to find Doctor Who themed clothes and/or toys for our impending baby (I like that, it sounds dramatic), when I ran across this awesome Torchwood fan comic Torchwood Babiez. Spastamagoria and Jigglycat have apparently worked very hard to represent our favorite Torchwood characters as cute little kids that you just kind of want to hug. And have no fear, the pet pterodactyl from the hub is even represented, as a cute little stuffed animal that Gwenn carried around, Tosh has her own mini Apple computer, and when we run into The Doctor, Rose is carrying a Dalek toy. I giggled through several pages, and it is safe to say I am now hooked on this particular livejournal blog.

Torchwood Pendant

torchwood-pendant

We just finished Torchwood: Children of Earth and I was completely astounded. I didn’t think it was possible for the writers to come up with anything more dramatic and heart wrenching than season two’s finale, but they did, and after I picked my jaw off the floor and successfully pretended like I wasn’t even close to tears, I decided to look for some cool Torchwood crafts. UrsulaandOlive have posted this great Torchwood Pendant on their etsy shop. If you’re a fan of the Doctor Who spinoff, then you are probably quite familiar with the phrase that was used to open seasons one and two, but was notably missing from Children Of Earth. And, of course, if you have somehow missed Torchwood: Children of Earth, it is available on DVD and I suggest you go out and get it.

Kelly_Bear posted this great at home Dalek-Shoe project on craftster.org. I suppose she felt that slip-on Vans just weren’t awesome enough, so she added her own Doomsday theme to these. On the heels they both say “EXTERMINATE!”. If you want some awesome Doctor Who shoes of your own, and just aren’t keen on Daleks, I say go for a TARDIS, I would think they are easier to paint anyway!

TARDIS Gingerbread House

It’s not too far past the holidays for gingerbread yet, is it?

No? Alright, then check out this gingerbread TARDIS by Reddit user Fortunekitty. She went so far as to post her own tutorial for other Whovians to make their own holiday treat.

tardis-gingerbread

Fortunekitty’s TARDIS is made from white chocolate mixed with blue food coloring for the icing, gingerbread, and edible sugar paper for the printed signs.

Would this count at all towards the Doctor someday being a ginger? Probably not, but what a way to try!

Pattern: Our Wall Is Not For Target Practice Mitts

Wandering  Tumblr as one waits for a blizzard (oh its here guys its here) reminded me of something else that was back. The BBC’s Sherlock.  I saw, webpixies Fingerless Mitts and grinned. I mean it wouldn’t be the first time, that I had a themed post so welcome back Sherlock. We are quite happy that you live again even if it took a few years.

webpixie_mitt

Webpixie used  the free pattern by Ampersand Designs  and altered the  mitten pattern into a pair of fingerless gloves. And one has to love the happy face addition on her mitts.  Mitten or Mitts, its a fun knittterly way to show your joy at returning to Baker Street.
