The Geek’s Bedroom

221863_06May15_12

Arachnea, a self-proclaimed geek from Ontario, posted this project on Craftster and called it, “The Geek’s Bedroom.”

She said she’s a geek and so is her husband, so she decided to create a roombox miniature of a geek’s bedroom. More specifically: a comic book geek. In the series of photos she posted, Arachnea included an amazing amount of details in her little room: furniture, a rug, a ton of books, comics, candy wrappers, a little t-shirt, an even posters and stuff on a bulletin board! It’s the kind of place I’d like to hang out.

I Feel Like I Need This In My Life

Ben Riddlebarger of The Art of Ben Riddlebarger on Etsy, recently posted a series of pictures on Imgur of a lamp he made. I feel like I need this kind of lamp in my life, and could probably do a halfway decent job of recreating it for my on she-nerd cave.

It’s exactly what it looks like: a gold Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber fighting a gold Great White Shark. Behind them, on the other side of the lamp is a gold mini Millennium Falcon. It looks like they were attached to a brass lamp. This is perfect, in all it’s randomness.

Ben Riddlebarger currently resides in Dayton Ohio where he spends his free time drawing like a mad man. He enjoys sushi, comic books, Judge Judy, colorful walls, and the company of eccentric people. His art comes from his dreams, experiences, joys, and random thoughts- all of which are weird.

DIY Comic Book Collage Silhouettes

Comic book silhouette collage by The Nifty Nerd

With so many great TV shows and movies out, there’s a lot of attention on comic books these days. It’s always nice to go back to the source material for the full backstory. While you’ve got your comics out, you might want to use some of the extras for this cool collage project, brought to us by Jessica from The Nifty Nerd.

Jessica has kindly put together a Nerdy Craft Tutorial on how she created her striking silhouette collages to adorn her hallway, including cutouts from Spiderman, plus a really cool Rohan horse banner crafted from Fellowship of the Ring book pages – you won’t want to miss that!

She also talked about other cutout backgrounds, like the Hogwarts houses, or Game of Thrones family crests. What fandom would you like to collage? I have a TARDIS in mind, from Doctor Who comic book pages…
