‘Inception’ Paper Sculpture

inception_paper_cuttingCheck out this paper sculpture of THE coolest fight scene ever!

ld posted this over at Craftster, with bigger pictures on LiveJournal. Inspired by the hallway scene of Inception, it’s made out of a single piece of card stock, with no adhesives. I absolutely love this, because it’s 1) an amazing piece of art and 2) because this is my favorite scene in the whole movie. When I saw the thumbnail on Craftster, I immediately knew what it was.  ld has even more amazing Inception paper sculptures at LiveJournal, and they are just as cool.

Hide Your Toilet Paper Under Totoro

Hide your toilet paper under Totoro

I’ve always been a bit creeped out by the idea of toilet paper covers, creepy dolls staring at you while you do your business.  However, after seeing this adorable Totoro TP cover I’m tempted to knit one myself.  Who doesn’t want a cuddly Totoro hanging out in their house protecting their toilet paper?  Blogger Acornbud shares the instructions for her Totoro toilet paper cover on her blog, Acornbud’s Yarns.  You can check out dozens of other Totoro related products and crafts on her blog as well!

Geek Crafts at Maker Faire!

If you are in the Bay Area (or can get there this weekend), don’t miss the magnificent Maker Faire! There is way too much going on to try to list here, but check out their list of makers and weekend schedule for tons of details. Here are a couple of things I’m most excited about…

Friend of geekcrafts Bonnie Burton is teaching a rad craft demo: make a paper-bag puppet of Admiral Akbar from her new Star Wars Craft Book. I went to her Yoda doll demo at Maker Faire a couple of years ago and it was amazing!

Meanwhile, Particle Zoo will have her excellent subatomic particle plushies for sale in the Bazaar Bizarre section. Her motto: It has to be scientifically accurate, and it has to be cute. (Thanks Rachel!)

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock Cross-Stitch

If you’re like me, anything that glorifies geekdom is awesome, and if it glorifies geekdom in a hilarious way that may or may not feature a Battlestar Galactica toaster, then…it’s even more awesome! DoAFlip posted this great Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock Cross-Stitch featuring the game of internet fame and a quote from the Big Bang Theory episode that brought it to the world. Haven’t seen it? Well the rules are simple:

  1. Scissor cuts paper
  2. Paper covers rock
  3. Rock smashes lizard
  4. Lizard poisons Spock.
  5. Spock smashes scissors
  6. Scissors decapitates lizard
  7. Lizard eats paper
  8. Paper disproves Spock
  9. Spock vaporizes rock
  10. Rock smashes scissors.

Easy enough, right? And this great cross-stitch is perfect for reminding us that there is always an amicable way (that includes Spock) to settle an argument.

AXM Paper Space Scale Models

I love our twitter followers. Ageekmom retweeted a link to this amazing website from her twitter-buddy, geekygirlau, and I was totally amazed by what I found. The picture above is a paper  model of a Challenger STS-51L by Tomys from Prague, Czech Republic. You read that right, PAPER. This amazing website is full of incredibly detailed, incredibly realistic scale models made from paper. I can’t even begin to tell you how cool I think these AXM Paper Space Scale Models are.
