“Sudden, but inevitable betrayal” pillow

Over at Craftster, the Whedonverse (as in Joss Whedon’s worlds: Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, and Firefly) Round 6 Swap is in full swing, and there are some amazing things over there! But my favorite so far is the embroidered Wash pillow. FiberAlchemist made it for her partner ifallthraindrops. The detail is so amazing, and the shading is gorgeous (shading is one of the many, many things I need to learn). I love cartoon Wash!

Doctor Van Whoopla

There is just so much awesome in this hoop! Craftster user onegroovyday made this for the Hoopla Round 4 swap, and I am seriously jealous of her partner! Even if she had stopped at the Van Gogh part it would have been gorgeous, but it just keeps getting better! The theme for Round 4 was a diptych–so it had to be two related hoops. And the second hoop is in the TARDIS!! There are more pictures in the post, and I highly recommend you go look, there’s SO much detail. Here is something else amazing: onegroovyday has never seen Doctor Who! “I have never watched Doctor Who…. I did a lot of image searching and some you tube viewing…”

Harry Potter Trunk of Spells

Harry Potter Trunk of SpellsOh, man, do I love these One Tiny Thing swaps on Craftster. Yes, yes, I’ve posted many times how much I love tiny things, but I’m going to say it again. I LOVE tiny things. And the One Tiny Harry Potter Thing swaps seem to yield the awesome-est tiny things of all. This trunk of spells by Craftster user technogoddess is just amazing. Look at all those itty bitty bottles and viles and spellbooks and even a teeny tiny bubbling cauldron! I’m in love!

MythBusters Embroideries

MythBusters embroidery“I reject your reality and substitute my own!”

I just spotted CraftyOctober’s amazing MythBusters embroideries on Craftster, which were made as part of an embroidery diptych swap.

It’s the details of these seemingly simple pieces that amaze me: the metallic thread on the glasses and the careful attention to the texture of the hair. Especially Jamie’s gloriously bushy beard, which was made using a technique called turkey work.

DNA Scarf

Craftster is such a great place to find nerdy crafts. Back in 2008 they had a Science IS Art swap that had amazing gallery–which included the greatest scarf of all time: the DNA Scarf. Superhooker made it for her partner (along with other great stuff) and it quickly became a popular topic. Last year I was the lucky recipient of one, and I love it! The pattern is here, so you can have your own!
