Make Your Own Octopi Amigurumi Army!

babyoctopusamigurumicrochetpattern_aiid477734

You don’t have to make an army of them, but why wouldn’t you? Check out this free crochet pattern, designed by Adorably Kawaii on Craftsy. It’s a beginner level pattern with pictures, and did I mention it’s free? I imagine it would be a great scrap buster too, and it would be easy enough to replace the safety eyes with buttons if that’s what you’ve got on hand.

A Spooky Photo Tutorial For You to Try

ghostlylevitatingphoto

We’ve all seen those spooktacular photos where the subject is somehow levitating. If you’ve wondered on how you can achieve the effect, then this tutorial from Jodie and Jen on Eighteen25.com will give you some great tips. You’ll need a tripod for the best results, and you’ll need to know how to use Photoshop as well (the tutorial is great, but clearly intended for folks who are familiar with the photo editing program already).  The possibilities are endless though, and the photo shoot itself would be loads of fun.  Kick your Halloween spirit into high gear with this delightful idea, and be sure to share the results with your friends here at Geek Crafts.

Make Your Own Halloween Skeleton Fairies

diy skeleton fairy

Here’s a tutorial for creating a Halloween decoration that’s really different and unique! Better yet, the materials are super cheap.  The skeleton is from the Dollar Tree (and comes in a pack of 4!), and the butterfly wings are from a craft store.   The only other materials you need are things you probably already have: some black paint (for aging the bones a little and darkening the eye sockets), scissors, and a hot glue gun.   I’m thinking I might need an army of these little guys . . . .

Your House Would Be EPIC With This In The Yard!

Halloween Yard Decoration DIY

I thought this was freaking awesome last year, but a Giant Tentacle Monster absolutely tops the Epic Halloween Decorations charts.  In this Instructable by username flaming_pele, you’ll see step by step how to make your own Giant Tentacle Monster.  There’s a supply list and several pictures, though you will need some of your own ingenuity and creativity to make it work for your own yard.  However, the core idea is solid, and the result is TERROR-fic! (I couldn’t help myself.) What are your DIY Halloween decorating plans this year?

Is it Too Early To Start Decorating For Halloween?

ghostlights_title

It’s probably too early to break out the Halloween decorations (it’s August when I’m writing this), but I honestly LOVE Halloween, and I CAN’T WAIT.  So, I thought I’d share this cool Ping Pong Ball Ghost Light Tutorial from Meredith at unOriginalMom.com.  It’s a bit of a riff on the traditional cheesecloth ghost decoration (I made these every year growing up as a kid).  Meredith uses ModPodge instead of Fabric Stiffiner, but I imagine either would work for this project.  You’ll find step-by-step instructions with great photographs on her website.  It may be too early to start decorating for Halloween, but it can’t be too early to start making the decorations, can it?!
