Roll for DIY with This Gaming Tabletop

Gaming Tabletop by KristyGD

From video to card to board, we have several gaming favorites at our house. Of the card and board variety, my kids enjoy Magic the Gathering, Munchkin and Settlers of Catan. Which makes me think this DIY gaming tabletop might be a big hit.

Kristy GD at Please Excuse My Craftermath has created a DIY gaming tabletop that is actually an IKEA hack project, sits atop her existing dining room table, and stores away as a decorative accent between gaming sessions. Talk about multi-purpose! Her blog post walks you through her process for creating the functional and portable tabletop.

With which games would you use this tabletop at your house?

Cotnheadninymug recently posted this bar top arcade gaming system on Imgur. There are a series of photos of the process of making it.

RetroPie allows you to turn your Raspberry Pi or PC into a retro-gaming machine. It builds upon Raspbian, EmulationStation, RetroArch and many other projects to enable you to play your favorite Arcade, home-console, and classic PC games with the minimum set-up. For power users, it also provides a large variety of configuration tools to customize the system as you want.

A Magic-al Proposal

Magic proposal card by Lindsey Loree

How’s this for a meaningful – and dare I say magical? – proposal? Lindsey Loree, whom I found via Female Geek Bloggers on G+, crafted this custom Magic: The Gathering card to propose to her boyfriend during a gaming session.

She blogged about the whole experience, from deviously learning to play Magic better so it wouldn’t be weird that she asked him to play with her, on through the process for crafting the card, to the actual game-proposal. Magical, indeed!

Any other geeky proposal stories out there?
