Everything Alice Book Review, Craft and Giveaway!

When I heard that there was an Alice book to review I jumped at the chance, and begged. I have loved everything Alice (how fitting!) my whole life.Everything Alice: The Wonderland Book of Makes & Bakes by Hannah Read-Baldrey and Christine Leech is a truly beautiful book. Even if you aren’t crafty but love Alice, this would still be a good book to own as the pictures and projects are stunning.I actually made two projects from Everything Alice to show you. The first one is so simple, even a non crafter can do it. No, really. It’s called Dress Me Alice and White Rabbit. This project is so simple, that you can even cheat a little, which I totally did. They say to copy the pictures and then glue them onto thin cardboard. I simply copied them onto white cardstock and cut out the middle man. The downside to this is that you really have to bend the spine to get the book to lay flat enough to copy it without shadows and stuff on the sides.

I also made the Cheshire Cat handwarmer. I sewed it by hand and you can tell I am by no means a seamstress. It was fun to make though so that really is all that matters. I’m going to actually keep mine in the freezer for headaches.

  3. My favourite character is the Mad Hatter :) The idea for his character is really quite clever… milliners/hat makers worked with lead, the fumes of which eventually made them quite mad! Also, the character himself always makes me smile :D

  4. Out of so many awesome characters in the books, I’d have to choose the White Knight. He was funny to my little brain even before I found out why he was so clumsy, and that made him even more awesome.

  5. Its hard to choose just one.. but the caterpillar is pretty spectacular! Must go back and have a reread of this!

  7. The Jabberwocky is my favorite character. I know he is one step removed from the story, but he has been my favorite since childhood.

    And her creative means by which she didn’t have to pay her maids. I recall it being something like “You will be paid every other Tuesday, and since every Tuesday is this Tuesday, you wont be paid at all.”

  15. Oh, my favorite is the Cheshire Cat, too! But I also like the White Rabbit-when I was 8, I sang his song from the Disney film to audition for a play, and I remember most of it, too!

  16. I have always loved Alice in Wonderland, too! This book is such a cool idea. My favorite character is the caterpillar. Smoking from a hookah on a mushroom and listening to poetry sounds like a mighty fine time!

  19. Oh, if I can go through the looking glass, the Red Queen was always my favourite. If I have to stick to Wonderland, though, I think I’d pick the Cheshire Cat as well. A perennial favourite.

  25. I worked for two incompetent bosses once who were brothers. I nicked name them “The Walrus and the Carpenter”. Every time I had the Disney soundtrack on in my office and that song came on, I burst out laughing.
    It still brings a smile to my face today so those two fellow would be my favorite characters.

  26. Oh this is awesome! I too, am an avid Alice fan. It was my wedding theme and seems to encompass 90% of my projects! Even my logo is based on Wonderland! hehe.   27. Alice, of course, since I suppose Lewis Carroll doesn’t really count as a character. This definitely makes me want to hunt down my Annotated Alice and re-re-re-re-re-read it.

  28. I gotta say the Dormouse. A friend of mine had a ‘Because I’m turning 21, I’m going to have 12 year old’s party’, Alice style of course, and I dressed up as the new T.B. version. I crocheted a giant eye and mouse eyes for it!

  33. My favorite character, isn’t a character traditionally, but I love the tea party; the table, chairs, teapots and cups! It’s my favorite part of the whole book
