Octopuses everywhere!

I’ve recently been reading Gail Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series, a delightfully steampunk and hilarious serious of novels that feature a headstrong female protagonist. While reading the series I’ve been struck with just how many decorative octopuses show up, especially around scientists. In my search for an answer I stumbled upon JennyDork. JennyDork is an Etsy shop run by Jenny Lee that carries adorable amigurumis, including this fabulous little octopus. These octopuses are so adorable that my two-year-old sister has been begging me for one since she spied it upon my computer screen and wouldn’t go to bed that night until she got to say goodnight to the octopus.

Needless to say I’ll be acquiring an octopus or two for my sister, and maybe even one for myself ,very soon.

Crocheted Brains

Etsy user Sarah runs the shop An Optimistic Cynic where she sells an eclectic selection of items, including crocheted organs! Having some extra brains around will be handy when those pesky zombies show up.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn Portrait

I was recently asked to make a Kirby plushie by a friend, but not just any stuffed Kirby would do. She specifically asked for one based off of the video game Kirby’s Epic Yarn. In my search for pictures of Kirby plushies I came across this adorable Kirby craft made by Shift! on Instructables.com. Though it’s not a plushie it’s absolutely adorable and easy to make.

Scott and Ramona K-I-S-S-I-N-G

This delightfully adorable work of bead art was crafted by Pixelated Production and is available in her Etsy shop. She has dozens of wonderfully geeky works of bead art for sale, including Scott Pilgrim coasters and a Super Mario coin box that you can actually put coins in! This particular piece is available as is, or mounted onto a canvas background.

One Scarf to Rule Them All

This Lord of the Rings inspired scarf was created by Ravelry user Tina Yeung (aka Tiny Tuna). The Elvish writing that circles around each end of the scarf translates to “One Ring to Rule them All, One Ring to find them, One Ring to Bring them All and in the Darkness bind them” from Tolkien’s famous novels. What better way to stay warm and profess your nerd hood?

Hide Your Toilet Paper Under Totoro

I’ve always been a bit creeped out by the idea of toilet paper covers, creepy dolls staring at you while you do your business. However, after seeing this adorable Totoro TP cover I’m tempted to knit one myself. Who doesn’t want a cuddly Totoro hanging out in their house protecting their toilet paper?
