Paper Goldeneye Remote Mines

I found this sweet website called Cut Score Fold and Glue that posts instructions about how to make your own paper sculptures. There are many many geeky posts for you to check out, but after searching specifically for Goldeneye 64 crafts,  I found (among numerous other creations) the instructions on how to cut/score/fold/glue remote mines!

I’m guessing they wouldn’t give quite the same satisfaction of throwing them in the game when they’re made out of paper, but maybe you could put one of those stick-on bathroom air fresheners inside to give it some weight/stickability. (That’s what the remote mines always reminded me of.)

NES Cartridge External Hard Drive

Nostalgic. Stylish. Practical. These are just some of the words that I would use to describe 8BitMemory‘s portable hard drive made from an NES Legend of Zelda cartridge. 8BitMemory can put an entire terrabyte of extra space (or 500GB or 750GB if you prefer) into pretty much any old cartridge!

Alternatively, if you’re feeling that DIY itch and want to give this a shot on your own, cr0ybot on instructables has a breakdown of how to put together something similar.

Piranha Plant Stamp

Last week my brother showed me a speed run of Lost Levels (8 minutes, 13 seconds, if you can believe it!) and I flinched a lot while watching, mostly because of close calls with piranha plants. Even though they could be really frustrating, I can respect piranha plants…

Which brings me to Etsy seller nerdnook! She sells a variety of rubber stamps for old school gamers, but my favorite is the piranha plant. It’s so simple, yet so recognizable. nerdnook also sells geeky apparel through another shop called Ten Shades of Awesome. Check it out!

Magic: The Gathering cookies

This has been around for a lil while, but The Domestic Scientist decorated these sugar cookies to look like all the different types of lands from Magic: The Gathering!  Read her post and she shares her clever way of stenciling on the designs…

Pipe cleaner Thrall

Wow, did I ever stumble upon a gem. The WoW Insider blog has a feature called World of WarCrafts that features, in their words, “art and creativity by WoW players, including fan art, cooking, comics, cosplay, music and fan fiction”. It is an absolute treasure trove of geek crafts!!

Chris Schultz, b/k/a Toepher, creates a variety of geeky figures out of nothing but pipe cleaner. They’re all amazing, but my eye was capured most intensely by his sculpture of Thrall.

When his work was featured on World of Warcrafts, Toepher talked about the process of building such intircate art: “The process is simple — well, simple to me, but to someone watching me make pipe cleaner characters, it can be kind of dumbfounding…I guess you can say I just have at it.”

If you’re any kind of WoW gamer/crafter at all, you MUST check out his stuff!
