Ikea Hacked Circuit Board Lighting

Ikea Hacked Circuit BoardsAnyone who has ever been to my home knows I can’t live without Ikea. (I just can’t get enough!)

Over at Ikea Hackers, their submitters come up with some pretty awesome ways to modify Ikea furniture.  While mod and hacking are inherently geeky anyways, I would like to bring your attention to these circuit board fixtures by Sara Reller. Love!  Super geeky props to you, Sara.  She made these for $50 (with stuff left over) 3 HEMMA fixtures, and blank circuit boards.   Ikea stuff and a little creativity go a long way!

CMYK Starship Enterprise

CMYK Starship EnterpriseWhen sci-fi geekery meets ink cartridges and a little creativity, it turns into some really amazing art!  Artist Faith Pearson made scenes from sci-fi movies and tv shows using a ton of empty ink cartridges donated by Ink and Media Ltd.

My favorite is of course the Enterprise, but there are also amazingly photographed scenes from Godzilla and King Kong, and a pretty convincing space tunnel!  Check out the full gallery of images at Ink and Media Ltd.

Barcode Chandelier

Barcode ChandelierGeekSugar, where I found this amazing chandelier, poses the question “Totally Geeky or Geek Chic?”  My vote is definitely GEEK CHIC!!  This is so cool, I’m not sure how anyone would think it’s too geeky.  It’s supposedly the barcode for Twinkies, but aside from buying a box and comparing the numbers, I can’t validate that claim.  (Any readers have a box of Twinkies handy?)   The link for image is broken (boo!) and a name, super-mobilet, is unfortunately the only info I can find for who actually made/sold this chandelier.  Looks like I’ll be creating my own instead!

So long and thanks for all the fish!

So long and thanks for all the fish! Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is probably one of the greatest movies of all time.  The opening credits are one of my favorite parts of the movie, and Craftster user  Tracey_K made this needlework bundle-of-awesome as a housewarming gift!   I’ve never worked with metallic thread before, and she says it is no fun to work with… however, it looks amazing!!  The colors work perfectly, and font selection is spot on – this so tops my current favorite crafts!  (and inspires me to finally finish my own cross stitch)  Kudos, Tracey_K, I love it!

It goes ding when there’s stuff

It goes ding when there's stuffWhoah!  It’s a timey-wimey detector necklace!!! (it goes ding when there’s stuff)  Really like the font, layout, and the extra ‘ding’ pendant is perfect!  I love this almost as much as I love David Tennant…

imaginationemporium on Etsy has this and other super sweet doctor pendants (allons-y!)  Yet another MUST HAVE for my collection :)

Harry Potter Wand DIY

Harry Potter Wand DIYACCIO LAPTOP!  (oh man, I wish that would have worked…)

These Harry Potter inspired magic wands are AWESOME!  Your Life Uncommon has a very easy to follow tutorial using only plain white paper, hot glue, and paint.

Oh, and with only 138 days left until the release of Deathly Hallows Pt 2, who’s excited?!  I feel I have to show my true geek colors and make one of these before the final movie premiere…  can’t wait to break out the supplies!
