“The Burrow” inspired Gingerbread House

I know Christmas was weeks ago, but Craftster’s Monthly challenge (due by today) was a Gingerbread House Contest. Among the unbelievable entries was mezcraft‘s Harry Potter inspired Burrow. She used two different gingerbread recipes to get different colored gingerbread, plus candy, cinnamon sticks, and cereal for the thatched roof. She even added the Weasley sweaters on a laundry line outside! I can’t get over how BIG it is, and how much detail she packed on (I still can’t believe it’s a gingerbread house)! Voting for the challenge starts tomorrow, and I can’t wait to see how she does!

Doctor Who Cupcakes

Saturday will be the beginning of the end of Matt Smith’s first season as The Doctor.  We managed to see this season on the UK schedule, so I am anxiously awaiting the second part, and in honor of that, I present: Doctor Who Week.

To kick off Doctor Who Week, I thought I would share these amazing Doctor Who Cupcakes I found on My Food Obsession‘s Flickr page (The Daleks are my favorite).

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas–Star Trek

I stumbled upon this hilarious version of ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas–Star Trek, while trying to find some geeky Christmas cookies, but believe me, if you surf over to fiftiesweb and read this poem in it’s entirety you won’t be sad I didn’t didn’t find any cookies featuring Spock in a Santa Hat.

It’s Riker, It’s Data,

        It’s Worf and Jean-Luc!

It’s Geordi, And Wesley, the genetic fluke!

To the top of the bridge, to the top of the hall!

Now float away! Float away! Float away all!”

As leaves in the autumn are whisked off the street,

So the floor of the bridge came away from our feet,

And up to the ceiling, our bodies they flew,

        As the Captain called out,

“What the Hell is this, Q?!”

The ornament pictured is from Hallmark‘s incredibly popular Star Trek ornament line–a new one comes out every year, so check your Hallmark store for this year’s, and have a very geeky Christmas Eve!

VHS Toaster

There was a time when I posted a lot from Instructables, and now I am remembering why. While searching for some cool geeky baked type things in honor of Thanksgiving I ran across Lemonie‘s VHS Toaster. This thing is awesome! He basically cannibalized and mated an old toaster and an old VCR to turn it into a toaster that knows how to make a statement (and toasts “VHS” on to the toast).  The best part is watching the video and seeing the VHS Toaster shoot toast out of the video slot.
