AXM Paper Space Scale Models

I love our twitter followers. Ageekmom retweeted a link to this amazing website from her twitter-buddy, geekygirlau, and I was totally amazed by what I found. The picture above is a paper  model of a Challenger STS-51L by Tomys from Prague, Czech Republic. You read that right, PAPER. This amazing website is full of incredibly detailed, incredibly realistic scale models made from paper. I can’t even begin to tell you how cool I think these AXM Paper Space Scale Models are.

Space Invaders Star Wars Mashup Skateboard

I recently featured a Blackberry case made by a follower of geek crafts on twitter, Dawn Crawford. Being the good wife that she is, she made her husband, Brian Crawford send us a couple submissions as well, and so we thank her, because this Space Invaders Star Wars Mashup Skateboard  he made for the Bordo Bello fundraiser for the arts this year is just awesome. Not only did he take inspiration from the awesome Space Invaders 8-bit look, but he incorporated into a Star Wars theme, and if that wasn’t enough for you, this baby lights up!

Pictures don’t really do this beauty justice, so be sure to check out their husband & wife craft blog Crap I Make to see the video Dawn shot of her hubby’s most excellent creation!

That’s No Moon Blackberry Case

DawnACrawford is geek crafts new biggest fan, she has recently discovered our blog and tweeted about it around five times in the last two days, needless to say, when I saw a submission from her in my inbox, I was really curious to see what awaited me at the other end of the link. It was this That’s No Moon Blackberry Case that she posted on her blog. It has the Death Star on one side and the Tie FIghter on the other, perfect for the Star Wars geek that can’t bear to be separated from their blackberry! Too cool.

Twitter Cake (Twake?)

If you are a twit who can stop tweeting than the word “twake” probably doesn’t seem the least bit odd to you. Twitter is taking off in a big way, sparking debates about  it’s “importance” and it’s affect on society as a whole. More than that, it’s become a huge community full of people who are positively addicted to reading and posting updates that answer the simple question “What are you doing?”. Well what @GDruckman was doing was having a birthday! Thankfully Geri posted a picture of this awesome Twitter Cake made to celebrate said birthday on Natuba. Let the kids have The Little Mermaid, I want a Twake! (Of course this begs the question, if I make a cake for someone to cheer them up after being fired, should I feature the “Fail Whale” on it?).

Make Your Own Gandalf Hat

gandalf-hat

Seems like the people in my house aren’t the only people enjoyingthe Lord of the Rings marathon airing on TNT this weekend. I mentioned it on Twitter and got several “@replies” that they were all doing the same. So in the spirit of the twelve straight hours of Lord of the Rings, I thought it might be fun to share a little how-to Make Your Own Gandalf Hat. Sally Pointer, hostess of the Pointy Hat Gallery, has featured this great Gandalf hat, complete with a little how to linked here. A list of supplies includes heavy weight felt, a sewing machine and patience (perhaps you could do this project while watching twelve straight hours of Frodo’s adventures?).
