Math Mobile

I think every new parent goes through a lot to make sure their nursery has a special something that  reflects both who they are and who they hope their little one will be. Miss Zish‘s husband is a math major, so after he mentioned how cool a Math Mobile would be, she set to work with the sculpey and made it a reality! I never thought I’d be posting a craft from a parenting board, but this one was just so awesome I had to put it up! Love the little Pi! (via Babycenter).

Monsters Invade New York City

December twenty-eighth came and went, and most New Yorkers went about their lives, blissfully unaware that their city had been taken over by ten sultry, lingerie modeling, miniature monsters. For the next several days, these monsters would hide out in random, unassuming spots in the Big Apple, awaiting discovery–and when they were discovered?  Well, they did what any well meaning monster would do, they directed the finder to Find A Monster where they could find out their monster‘s name, basic information, biography, and a coupon for Bare Necessities!

Find A Monster is taking guerrilla marketing to a new, and pretty geeky level. This was the first Find A Monster experiment, lasting a few days–but if you follow @findamonster on Twitter, you’ll be the first to know about the next Find A Monster campaign and get clues to discover a mini-monster of your very own. Why monsters, though? JPD Studios, the marketing company responsible for the New York City monster invasion wanted to combine art and guerrilla marketing–and why not monsters? When Krista, from JPD Studios spoke with me she said,

…we chose monsters for this project because there’s no predefined idea of what a “monster” is. This allows for the artists’ creativity to be fairly limitless and we can easily tailor the monsters to a specific theme. Our monsters range from scary, funny, silly, cute, pretty, sexy, evil. Plus, everyone loves monsters!

And isn’t that the truth? I can’t wait to see what the next Find A Monster campaign is, and what they’ll be wearing!

Crocheted Pac Man Toys

Carey Huffman of Full Of Fluff made these awesome Crocheted Pac Man Toys for a friend, and now the world is knocking down her door for the pattern (which you can find on her blog). Now, I know I posted a Pac Man craft just a couple days ago, but have you looked at these guys? They are so cute and full of win! I can see hours of entertainment for both me and my cats if I had these babies around (although I might just put them on my desk where they can look cool). (via shinyshiny).

Space Invaders Star Wars Mashup Skateboard

I recently featured a Blackberry case made by a follower of geek crafts on twitter, Dawn Crawford. Being the good wife that she is, she made her husband, Brian Crawford send us a couple submissions as well, and so we thank her, because this Space Invaders Star Wars Mashup Skateboard  he made for the Bordo Bello fundraiser for the arts this year is just awesome. Not only did he take inspiration from the awesome Space Invaders 8-bit look, but he incorporated into a Star Wars theme, and if that wasn’t enough for you, this baby lights up!

Pictures don’t really do this beauty justice, so be sure to check out their husband & wife craft blog Crap I Make to see the video Dawn shot of her hubby’s most excellent creation!
