Holy Cricket!! »rc on Design in Technology Education made this AMAZING Harry Potter Monopoly game! I would pay a lot of money for this! And the best part is, he has also uploaded the files to make your own Harry Potter Monopoly, and a post to give you some hints on making your own game! All you need is an old monopoly game, a colour printer (the board has to be printed in two parts), some mod podge (or similar) and a bit of spare time! I am so excited by this! I’m going to spend my afternoon trawling the charity shops for and old monopoly game! I might even make some player pieces out of fimo!

Choose Wisely – A Harry Potter Game

choose wisely - a harry potter game

Don’t you ever wish Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans were a staple? While I’m probably not very fond of jelly beans tasting like bogey, it would certainly make munching on them very interesting.

Craftster-user patty_o_furniture agrees, so she created Choose Wisely. This intriguing game is inspired by Harry Potter and looks as if it’s made by the Weasley’s. They could certainly come up with a game in which you may or may not find the taste of earwax in your mouth! The variety of accessories and the box which the game resides looks absolutely stunning and captures the atmosphere of the magical world quite well. For more photographs and information, I direct you to patty_o_furniture’s post.

Harry Potter Chess Set

Harry Potter chess set

We are big Harry Potter fans at my house – my husband read every book out loud to us as a family, and of course we saw all the movies. Not only was it fantastic to see the stories played out on the big screen, but it was fun to watch the actors grow older with each new movie. And some surprises there – Neville Longbottom, anyone??

But I digress. Let’s get on with the geek-crafting sharing. I saw this Harry Potter Chess Set with fun matching bag on Mod Podge Rocks recently, and knew you all would want to see it too. Thankfully the original project is shared on Instructables, so you can conjure up your own magically strategic set, too!

GeekCrafts Submission: Harry Potter Sharpie Mug

DIY Sharpie-decorated mugs

We received this as a submission, and what a cute project! I had no idea you could decorate ceramic coffee mugs with regular Sharpies! I love how bright the colors turned out and the adorable little Harry Potter face (complete with mini Gryffindor scarf collar!).

What would you draw on your coffee mug? A Star Trek insignia? The Star Wars Rebel Alliance logo? A couple of Portals?

Nom nom – International Pi Day!

Nom nom - International Pi Day

Today is the 14th of March and that can only mean one thing. No, I don’t mean the birthday of Albert Einstein and Johann Strauss, I mean International Pi day! According to the Pi Day website:

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (a Greek letter) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.
